Topher brought us news about the HD Katamari game yesterday, Katamari Damacy Tribute, and while I was excited then, I'm twice as excited now after seeing the trailer that you can find after the jump. It shows comparison video of previous Katamari titles with Tribute, and the difference is pretty remarkable -- Tribute looks almost cel-shaded, with a beautiful crispness to the images and what looks like lots of new areas to explore.
That's not all, though -- hang around until the end of the video and you'll get a list of all the artists who are participating in the game's soundtrack. It looks like Namco called on some of the best, including popular Japanese acts such as Sexy Synthesizer and YMCK, to cover the classic songs we know and love from the series. Let me make it loud and clear in case I seem subtle: I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS.
Damn, PS3 is getting a lot nice versions of games, even if they're always late. Between this and Warriors Orochi X I'm really sad I don't have one now =<.
"Looks like" cel shading? I'd say there's no doubt of that.
Honestly though-- it's just more of the same! They've already let you roll around the galaxy at the end of We Love Katamari-- it's just expanded now.
I love rolling that ball around-- I really do-- but unless the MSRP is $20 out of the gate like previous incarnations, I wouldn't spend more than that for a first-day buy. There has to be more to it-- maybe new controls (like perhaps a hopping button)or something that utilized the ball rolling differently-- how about a pinball-like level or a strictly-downhill level?
I'll only buy it as long as they don't lock 75% of the game in DLC... but it'll never happen. But I'm still excited, even though looks like they'll just re-do the other games.
I could care less about the HD-ness, but seeing the new levels and hearing the new music in that vid already has me already chomping for this to come out.
Did you see the part where everywhere the Katamari went, flowers grew... Okami-style??
Okami + Katamari = Quirky heaven.
@ CharleyTony- Get a (used) PS3 just for this and Noby Noby Boy.
