Most of you by now should be familiar with Cooper Lawrence, the smug psychologist who grinned and giggled while slandering BioWare's Mass Effect for content she had neither witnessed nor indeed, had any experience with firsthand. Well, it seems that she's now getting a taste of her own medicine, as insulted gamers have swarmed onto Amazon to review her book. The catch? They've not read it, but just like she and Mass Effect, that little detail hasn't stopped them forming a belittling and negative opinion of it.
Of the 442 reviews for The Cult of Perfection, a stunning 386 are one star reviews. A slew of comments spoofing the ones she made herself on Fox's Live Desk segment should spell it out clearly enough for even the ignorant Ms. Lawrence -- she trashed a game based only on hearsay and a desperate need for attention, now she's finally getting a dose of the potential damage her irresponsible behavior causes. Here's a few of the best reviews:
- If she does have as much "research" as she does for her tv spots you can expect a book full of complete lies at best. Take everything she writes with a huge grain of salt or better yet save your money.
- Trying to encourage sexual acts in a book made available to young children is unacceptable.
- There's a new study out of the University of Maryland that says this book sucks.
- This author does little research yet since she's a psychologist everything she says is taken as researched fact. Don't blindly trust her.
- Steer clear of this pointless book and save your money, get Mass Effect instead. ;)
- This book is filled with adult-oriented pictures and stories, yet it is apparently available and marketed towards children. I find this unacceptable. You will never see this book in my house.
- Sorry darling, I gotta go with the research here, and the research shows - there's a new study off the Internet today that says that middle-aged, attention-craving women writing generic, run-of-the-mill, rehashed self-help books should not be listened to when they offer their opinions about matters they themselves admit they have never engaged or even done any research in.
I fully understand what some of you must be thinking -- that this is "stooping to her level," and potentially making gamers look bad. Perhaps it is and perhaps we should strive to be eloquent and intelligent, but let's face it, that didn't get poor Geoff Keighley very far. This kind of movement is something that these miserable hacks actually understand, and I'm not going to condemn a bit of good old-fashioned karma. Cooper Lawrence deserves this.

For gamers, it's easily to take the "waste of time" attack personally, and that's why it was nice to see some of the very smart responses given to a post called "Couldn’t Care Less About Xbox 360, Nintend...
