Finally, a developer gets me. I spend a good portion of my time as a WWII pilot in various videogames dive-bombing precious targets with reckless abandon. Unfortunately, most games don’t reward me for my individual (and explosive) heroics. But it appears as though Battlestations: Pacific will. Today, Eidos and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released a new trailer for the game.
And it features the dreaded Kamikaze pilot.
Apparently there’s an entire mode dedicated to Kamikaze. I like the sound of that and I especially love what I've seen of it. After the break, you can watch a few pilots get their wreck on with a few lucky U.S. ships.
The trailer says that the Kamikaze attack changed war forever. Forget about nuclear weapons, folks -- smashing into boats with planes is really what changed war.
oh god yes!
ive been kamikaze-ing things and people since Super Smash Bros 64 with Kirby and DKs grab attacks
i hope those levels are done smart since they are definably gonna be fun
There was actually a squadron of German "Kamikazes" as well. They would use their planes to damage bombers, like chopping up the bombers tail with their propeller, and then try to bail out and parachute to safety.
Pfft, this is nothing. I do this in Battlefield 2 all the time. Just choose special force class and stick C4s all in front of a vehicle, then drive the vehicle to a target and immediately jump out and detonate the C4! BOOM!
Definitely not digging the depicting suicide bombers as heroes. At least they didn't call it Kamikaze (Divine Wind) attack. Japanese suicide attacks are about as divine as Islamic ones... as in to say they AREN'T.
Anyway, my stomach actually turned when I watched this video.
Going to say the same thing as in the six days thread stop bitching it was a choice for these people to do what they did so why shouldn't it be in a game all the world war games where people were conscripted to fight are sick and you dont get all up in arms about that.
"The fact they were to go on suicide missions was accepted without question by the Japanese pilots."
