Ka-boom: Team Fortress 2 free weekend starts today photo

Team Fortress 2 is one of those multiplayer games that you just have to check out. The playful visuals, excellent balance between the wildly different character classes, and the nearly eternal (and free) Valve support are just a few of the reasons it’s worth your hard-earned coin.

But if coin is something you’re short on, you’re in luck. Starting today Valve is throwing a free Team Fortress 2 extended weekend party on Steam to celebrate the recently released Spy/Sniper update. That means you can play the game free, later today, without spending any dough.

You can preload the files on Steam by going here or, you know, download it like we used to do in 2007.

[Update: You know, they tell us these things. Sorry. Later today it is.]

SHHHHH!

Keep it on the down-low. If this server connection gets any slower it'll be going in reverse!

These free weekends for TF2 crack me up. If you haven't played TF2 yet then you don't deserve to play it.

I just wish I had a PC that could run it at faster than 20 FPS. I'm expecting now that Valve is just going to wait until all nine classes have been updated before bringing the update to the 360 version.

I wait a day or two for everything to calm do during these updates cause everybody wants to be one class or the other. Too much chaos LOL.

If I had to guess, I bet they're gonna do another dual update with the Engi/Demo since they counter each other.

I'm in Dexter's boat, I can't run Team fortress 2 in any playable form on PC. That's a reason I love consoles, no need to check system requirements, if it is for your console you're going to be able to play it.

Same boat as Mentok, when exactly can we play?

If you're unfamiliar with the game and planning to take advantage of the free weekend, be prepared for dozens of deaths the instant the game starts for reasons you will not be able to understand until after the weekend ends.
