June 29 is still not MvC2's release date
A little while back Dale "I'm a ninja and could kill you" North reported that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was hitting XBLA and PSN on June 29. It was a little odd because it was a Monday release date and, it turns out, because that date was entirely made up. The game won't be getting here until some time near the end of July according to Capcom's Twitter. Capcom revealed the vague true release date and admitted to a little curiosity in where the rumor had come from by saying, "MvC2 is not actually coming out on June 29, sorry guys. Not sure where that rumor came from, but it's going to be closer to the end of July." "That rumor" came from Marvel's Q1 financial report (.pdf) , which Capcom evidently didn't read. They also must have missed the hundreds of blog posts about it around the web, which, much like this one, linked to the Q1 report. Is there an exact opposite of Matlock? So, another month of waiting. Life's a bitch. Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)That "not sure where that rumor.." comment kinda' bugged me. Considering the internet's been abuzz for weeks now, and several release date listings (including VGChartz) had it slated for June 29th, this occurs to me more like the person behind the Capcom Twitter attempting to do some social network spin control while backpedaling from what probably WAS an actual date, though recently pushed for some reason. come on people, this game has been out for years. I'm sure there's other stuff you can get excited about. I've been hearing "end of July" from friends for more than a month now. I should probably start listening to them more. Shinryu - A lot of avid MvC fans still haven't managed to find a hard copy of the original release, or have been unable (or unwilling) to afford the pricey cost. Mind you, I personally own a copy for Playstation 2 and am only marginally interested in the new release, but totally understand why other folks would be more so. That's a bummer but there's alot of backlog for me to go through still so I'm cool with it. It just better make it here eventually. 9:30 PM on 06.18.2013 Deep Down a ways away, not related to Dragon's DogmaDuring Sony's PlayStation 4 reveal event, Capcom showed off Deep Down, a game slated for PS4 and running on Capcom's next-gen engine, codenamed "Panta Rhei."
