Jumpgate Evolution begins beta signup photo

I’ve always been a fan of flight combat games -- even though I’ve never been very good at them. There’s just something about flying over wide open landscapes -- while simultaneously firing off missiles at the punks that dare to invade my airspace -- that just never seems to get old. That’s one of the reasons why if I’m playing a game that features aerial vehicular combat (like Warhawk), I’ll jump in a plane the first chance I get ... and subsequently get shot down a few seconds later.

Yep, really the only thing that can make flying more appealing to me is to change the planes to spaceships, stick 'em in outer space, and add lots of blazing lasers. This is why NetDevil’s upcoming MMO Jumpgate Evolution appeals to me so much: it contains all of the above!

If twitch-based space combat is something that interests you, too, then you might want to head on over to the game’s freshly launched official Web site and sign up for the upcoming closed beta. There’s only a limited amount of spots open, so don’t put it off for too long.

Is blowing up thousands of other players’ spaceships relevant to your interests?

(Warwickshire, UK) – June 26, 2008 – Codemasters Online & NetDevil are pleased to announce that BETA signups for their hotly anticipated MMO Jumpgate Evolution are now live alongside the brand new global community portal at www.jumpgateevolution.com

Launched this week, the global community portal is the premier destination for all news and information on Jumpgate including access to the hotly anticipated BETA which will be going live in the coming months.

'We are excited to launch our new global community destination for fans of Jumpgate Evolution," commented Edward Relf, Director, Marketing, Codemasters Online. "Since its announcement earlier this year, we have been overwhelmed by the support for the game and are pleased to be working with NetDevil to bring something truly unique to the MMO market. We are expecting unprecedented levels of demand for BETA and urge anyone interested in playing the game to sign up as quickly as possible at the new website www.jumpgateevolution.com."

'We are very glad to have such strong support from our fans since the initial launch of our website. With this refreshing new community portal, we look forward to presenting exciting Jumpgate Evolution content and connecting with our global fans," commented Scott Brown, President, NetDevil.

Developed by the highly experienced US-based MMOG developer NetDevil, Jumpgate is the definitive elite space combat MMO allowing players to choose from one of three playable nations and engage in an intense action-packed universe. Embarking on an immersive and accessible space adventure, players can trade valuable commodities, take part in dangerous intergalactic raids, meet and play with friends and live out the dream to become an elite hero or infamous space pirate. The game features both a rich and varied universe to explore and has been designed for experienced and novice MMO players alike.

If MMO means monthly fees I will not touch this game.

Fying and pewing in space is sweet though!

This is an awesome game, and I've had my beta code secured for months now. Thought it was worth mentioning you could sign up for the beta on the old site.

Either way, since getting my hands on the game at Connect '08, it's the first and only MMO I've ever looked forward too.

If it's Eve Online with twitch based combat count me in!

(unless there are monthly fees, then count me out)

There's apparently a guild sign-up as well. Anyone interested in a massive Toid guild signup?

I wouldn't mind if there was an element of group socialization, it just feels to much like your playing a singleplayer game with advanced AI otherwise.

I signed up for the BETA way back in January.

TBH the website looks no different either from what I remember, is it simply a new URL?

I've also been getting monthly updates since January too and no mention of this, weird.

Who are all these new editors and why are they all appearing just now? Is it because of E3?
