Valve's let us know that an update for the Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead is now up for download via Xbox LIVE. No, it's not the one that includes the Survival mode, but it does bring a slew of new features.

Gone are the days of fun-filled mini-gun jumping and using propane tanks to fall through elevator floors. Although the update fixes these exploits and a few more, it's also bringing tweaks to aid the Special Infected and improve Versus mode.

You'll have to hit the jump for the full lists of changes. As an added bonus, I attached the unofficial music video for the L4D porno, Left 4 Head. Sadly, Adam Dork only included safe for work footage, and it's set to Tiffany. Don't act like you're not going to watch it. We know you can't resist.

General
  • Fixed Survivors being able to climb surfaces marked for versus infected only
  • Fixed a class of SurvivorBot bugs dealing with rescuing downed players
  • Players can no longer grab ladders while flying through the air after a Tank punch
  • Shooting near a car with an alarm that has already fired the alarm will no longer make chirping noises
  • Fixed mini-gun physics exploit
  • Fixed propane tanks (and other physics objects) causing players to fall through elevators
  • Fixed rare achievement bug issues
  • Fixed several map exploits
Versus Changes
  • Added HUD elements to show status of other infected players
  • Fixed instance where a Survivor changing to the infected team would be attacked by infected bots
  • Normalized special infected melee damage
  • Fixed exploit where infected players could run away and teleport back to gain health
  • Players can only change teams once per map
  • Players can't change teams while other players are still loading
  • Tank spawns at the same % through the map for both teams in versus mode
  • Made the Tank and Witch spawn directly on the escape route
  • Increased chance of getting the Tank or Witch
  • Fixed team swap issue
Hunter
  • Easier to pounce a Survivor who is meleeing
  • Increased Minimum damage a Hunter pounce does
Smoker
  • Fixed Smoker tongue tolerance
  • Smoker now has to be killed or the tongue destroyed for the tongue to break
  • Survivors cannot bash someone off the tongue until the Survivor being pulled is paralyzed or hanging
  • Tongue attacks that fail to paralyze or hang a Survivor will use the shorter ability delay timer
  • Fixed cases where the ability timer was not using the correct time
  • Fixed case where you could point at a Survivor but not register a tongue hit
  • Fixed Smoker tongue not targeting and landing properly through PZ ghosts
  • Smoker tongue does damage every second while dragging paralyzed Survivors
Tank
  • Bashable objects now appear with a red glow
  • Tanks hitting a car with an alarm disables the alarm permanently
  • Tank frustration timer is only reset by hitting Survivors with rocks or fists
  • Reduced autoshotgun damage against Tanks
Witch
  • Witch spawns at the same % through the map for both teams
  • Avoids spawning within a certain % of the tank
  • Fixed an exploit where the Witch could be woken up and tricked into attacking Survivors

Enjoy your nerfed Smoker, because I assure you everything that patch note says about it is a lie.

That music video brings back all the incredible memories of L4H.

I am psyched about this as I haven't touched the game in a while. Hope this fixes the forklifts...

Where's the "infected can no longer push objects in the way" fix? I don't see it on those notes.

And who gives a shit honestly? The game was fun for 2 weeks and all we get in the next update is survivor mode and 2 maps that should have shipped with the game in the first place.

For once, the PC version is the best.

Eh, I'll take them. I like this game anyways so hopefully this just makes it smoother.

Hopefully the Smoker isn't horrible now. If you aren't amazing with him, he can be pretty annoying to spawn as.

"For once, the PC version is the best."

...For once? I play on 360, but I can still admit the PC version for a vast majority of multi-platform games is superior. This especially applies to Valve's games; modding and extra content is released worlds faster on the PC compared to the 360, just look at TF2. By the time we get all those updates on the 360, it might as well be repackaged as TF3 since it'll be a completely different game, just run on the same graphics.

I'm a little skeptical about the smoker hullaballoo. Not being able to break the tongue with melee means that the infamous No Mercy finale insta-kill will almost be a sure success unless you manage to downright kill him in a few seconds.

I think that the updates to the smoker are pretty necessary. Playing as the smoker was always so damn annoying.

Definitely the weakest link on the infected team. Weaker than the regular infected until you got the hang of everything. You could tell he wasn't built in versus the same way he is when you are in campaign.

Wow, that's a pretty massive update. I'll have to get it tonight and see if the changes are really noticeable.

*Fixed several map exploits
I hope this means the dumpster over the manhole and the blockade in front of the elevator.

*Easier to pounce a Survivor who is meleeing
Thank God, that shit was getting ridiculous.

*Fixed case where you could point at a Survivor but not register a tongue hit
Which happened waaaaaay too often... nearly every other time.

This is gonna be sweet.

Goddamn gimped smoker, I better still be able to rape. Also: smoker tongue does not target easier as I'm sure any PC player will attest to.

Playing today was sheer joy. All the bugs and exploits I know about are gone. Even a few smoker instant kills (like level 2 of blood harvest, and the last level of no mercy) are gone. I'm really happy with this.

I don't see anything "gimping" the Smoker on there. Anyone care to clue me in?

Yes, the update _says_ it does good things for the Smoker, but then when you actually try to play it in game, you find out they made his range infinitely shorter, it's harder to get a lock, and the drag is actually still really easy to knock off. If it's anything like it plays on PC now anyways.

I hope they fix the that causes the Tank not to spawn in Blood Harvest VS in the PC update, that shit is annoying when it's your last chance to win.
