Join up with Liara in the next Mass Effect 2 add-on photo

Did anyone enjoy interacting with Liara in Mass Effect 2? She was likable in the first game, then shifted into something of a b*tch in the sequel. The next expansion for ME2, "Lair of the Shadow Broker," will have her joining Shepard and co. in battle and promises to explain the dramatic personality change.

The game's official site has a quick snippet of what to expect. Slight spoilers, I guess:

Two years ago, Commander Shepard died and Liara T'Soni fought in a desperate struggle against the Shadow Broker to recover her former Commander. Now that Shepard is back, it's time to even the score.

No word on pricing, a date, or any of that good stuff. Knowing how BioWare likes to cycle out this information, we shouldn't have to wait long for more details.

Liara really pissed me off in ME2. I did her in the first game (that act literally made me an achievement whore), and by the second she did a total 180. Then I banged Miranda. *holds up knuckles for brofist*

But really, I'm kinda' interested in this. Her story felt really forced in ME2 and I think this might help explain her rationale a bit more.

I still say Tali is where it's at.

Finally, something interesting.

Last two were boring. I feel like a dirty whore having bought them.

Fuck what you heard. Make your Shepard a Sentenal and be sure to take Armor Piercing Rounds as your loyalty ability and it won't matter who else you bring. Warp + APR + Overload = punch through any damage mitigator in the game, and on top of that you get an inate damage mitigation ability in Tech Shield. GG HF.

On topic: I'm so glad Liara is coming back. I romanced her in the first game and was sorely disappointed to see it didn't cary over. It didn't stop me from screwing Tits McGee in ME2, but I do have a save file where I stayed true...

Really? You thought Overlord was boring? I was edge of my seat the whole time.

In other news, though, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS MORE MASS EFFECT.

I wonder if they are going to work in the relation ship angle into this. I would love if my characters choice to bang Miranda effected the dialog in a real way.

Haven't they already done this as a comic book? Not to complain, just thinking out loud here. Just consider the emphasis on this part of the saga, combined with their announced plans to use DLC to bridge the gap between 2 and 3...

Hmm. I bet the Shadow Broker and the Illusive Man are part of the same agency, if not the same person. Just a wild guess on my part. ;)

@DrRockso

Sorry. Boring is probably the wrong word. I did a short review on my blog. I guess I was just dissapointed because neither of the DLC missions take the story anywhere.

Overlord was a good amount of content for the price, and the ending sequence was pretty cool, but overall, I felt like there was no real point for me to be there other than to do a glorified side quest. I mean, I already saved the galaxy -again- right?

That said, teaming up with Liara could be very interesting. Hope more details come soon.

@ Sir Legendhead - I haven't played ME2 since release but didn't they say the Illusive Man is just one of his many names? I bet you're on to something.

I think the comic book came between 1 and 2; this is definitely after 2, setting up a strike on the Shadow Broker. And yeah, I'm almost willing to put some money down on that one (TIM/Shadow Broker being the same guy.)

@jc83

Naw, nothing to apologize about; different strokes for different folks 'n all. I do hear what you're saying, though, and from the sound of it, BioWare IS looking to advance the story pretty soon.

Yay finally some Liara story action! Overlord had me jumping out of my seat a few times, if it's written/built as nicely as Overlord was it'll be fun.

@Jordan Tali is most definitely where it's at... For my male evil Shepard. My female good Shepard is all about Liara :)

Definately sounds like it might be interesting. I didn't think much of comic liara or ME2, but then she was my shepards ME1 love interest.
That squad in the pic is definately the way to go!

Akward scene between liara and tali/garrus/whoever has got to be in there.

Sounds awesome, even though Aria (please let her be a party member in ME3) has officially replaced Liara as my favorite Asari.

She 180d because she had to deal with some stuff. Mostly regarding bringing Shep back from the dead.

Not to say I wasn't put off at first. But I think the mood change was wholly reasonable and believable.

Definitely picking this one up.

perfect. I just started my 2nd ME1 runthrough (to play more Paragon than my renegade first time). Hopefully this will be out by the time I get to ME2. I haven't played overlord, or kasumi yet, only the launch dlc (Zaeed).

Can. Not. Wait.

I personally enjoyed the fact that Liara became badass. I like to think of it as me rubbing of on her.

Poor Choice of words. OR WAS IT?

Anyway, I loved the comics and I look forward to the DLC!

I was hoping the Shadow Broker would be an epic story arc in ME3 (who knows, maybe this builds it up to be?). Currently attempting a playthrough on Insanity in ME2, wish me luck.

Oh goodie, more side missions with my least favorite party member. Seriously, I did not like her in ME1, and I certainly did not like her in ME2 after her edgy angsty personality change. I mean, if you want cute nerdy awkward chick, you have Tali and her sexy accent. If you want an angsty conflicted female, there's every other female party member.

That said, I've enjoyed just about all of ME2's DLC so I'll look forward to this one as well, if just because I want some DLC to actually start advancing the story towards ME3.

Liara made me upset in Mass Effect 2. I had the romance with her and it felt so damn strange to just stare at her and feel nothing. I really would like to know what happened to her in the time between the two games.
