Artist Joe Madureira is talking about Darksiders in this brand new promotional video for THQ's promising looking action game. In an age where we constantly talk about moral choices and complex meaning in videogames, it's somewhat fun to see a man talk about simply being a badass in a plain "Good vs. Evil" scenario.

What I'm most curious about with Darksiders is seeing how the adventure elements play out. The game has looked like nothing but a straight-up hack n' slash in which you smash buttons to kill everything, but Zelda has been referenced as an influence and Joe Mad mentions in this video how the game is an adventure title more than anything else. I've seen nothing more than violence, which is wonderful, but I'm very intrigued by whatever else is hidden under the hood.

In any case, Darksiders is out in the first week of 2010 and should be a blast!

And.. he's not a writer. He's a comic artist.

That last sentence is so epically forced!

He's started at marvel, went on to do one of the most popular runs on uncanny x-men, then went on to image to do Battle Chasers, etc. etc.

COME ON JIM.

I wanted to draw like Madureira back in the day. I really liked his style, I wish he stuck with comics. *has flashbacks of drawing that red monika cover over and over again...you know...that cover*

This is looking pretty good. I'm certainly more excited for this than Dante's Inferno.

I still have a bit of Joe Mad influence in my art style. I mean, the man was one of the founding comic artist to bring a manga style to american comic art.

But yeah, I thing I'll probably get this game, just to support him. He's had so many things flop before. Hell, if this game does good, maybe he will finish battle chasers. That would be "epic"

If it would get Joe Mad back on Battle Chasers, I'd buy the game.

Wow, it looks like they really learned from a lot of stuff that God of War did right. I don't want to jump to calling it a clone just yet, but it definitely looks like a game for GoW fans. I'm sold.

Joe Mad was one of my favorite artists in high school, and still is today. Didn't he have an Xbox game he was given lead design for, but it fell apart? So good to see Darksiders living up to its potential.

This is really looking good. I'm going to have to try this and Dante's Inferno, but I have a feeling this will be more in depth as far as character customization goes. I relate the two because they are slightly based on the christian religion/ mythology and they are both action games.

Having never played either game I'll go ahead and say Dante's Inferno > Darksiders

Oh, and Joe Mad's art is the visual equivalent of the music of Limp Bizkit.

@Occam

That's a low blow sir. Maybe you're thinking of Todd Mcfarlane? :p

Sidenote, guy came into my store wanting to pre-order Dante's Inferno and that he's reading The Divine Comedy because of the game and "it's got like hundreds of pages". soooo ACTUAL "Dante's Inferno > Dante's Inferno.

@fozzyozzy: I tend to lump Todd Mcfarlane and Limp Bizkit all in the same Wal-Mart parking lot in Destin, Florida together so same diff?
