JJ Abrams hated the most recent Star Trek game

The videogame tie-in for Star Trek Into Darkness was pretty poorly received, and JJ Abrams, the movie's director, is bummed out about it. Well, not about the critical reception; he's in agreement there. He's disappointed in how hard the game actually did suck.

In an interview at the movie's DVD launch event, Abrams expressed his initial high hopes for the project, along with his eventual dissatisfaction. "To me, the videogame could have been something that actually really benefited the series," Abrams stated. "It was something that we were actually involved in at the very beginning, and then we realized that it was not going in a place where we wanted, so we dropped out," he revealed.

"It was something that, I think for me, emotionally it hurt, because we were working our asses off making the movie, and then this game came out and it got universally panned." Abrams even went so far as to say the game "was something that without question didn't help the movie, and arguably hurt it."

Review: Star Trek: The Video Game

As a life-long Star Trek fan, I was skeptical about the reboot. However, my worries were unfounded as the 2009 film quickly became one of my favorites in the series, and it's attention to what came before while paving a new p...more

The Star Trek film tie-in game is still a thing

Yep, that Star Trek game is still happening, and a new trailer has surfaced, showing off some gameplay and in-game visuals. More or less, it's looking like a Mass Effect clone, and since anything substantial hasn't really be...more

Tekken 7 extended trailer is twice as overdramatic

I can't believe Liam Neeson has already made seven of these. There was a trailer for this recently, but this Comic-Con trailer is twice and long, therefore twice as good. You can say, "It's not about the length of the trailer, it's how you use it" all you like, but it's a half truth.  Also, please never say Heihachi again.more

Video: Dragon Ball Online fan remake happening, and Xenoverse still looks like a remake

A group of Dragon Ball Online fans, who happen to also be developers, are translating the game into English and re-releasing it as Dragon Ball Online: Revelations. Meanwhile, we've got more screenshots of Dragon Ball Xenoverse, a game which I still firmly believe to be an adaptation of Dragon Ball Online.more
