Thanks Jim, great points, that's how you take something seriously, with tender hate.
$60+ for each game regardless of quality and then DLC/online passes if I want to still play my game online further down the road.
Hyperbole is often necessary to achieve progress. It adds emphasis to something that would otherwise be glossed over with a simple "ho hum, this bothers me." criticism. I agree with Jim. I fucking hate video games because the industry is window-licking retarded (and also gamers are shitheads with shitty attitudes).
So no, I shouldn't admit that I agree with you there, because I genuinely don't. People don't have to agree with your subjective take on things to be considered objective.
You painted a lot of strawmen in the video also. Zelda fans who can't stand even 1 tiny bit of criticism? That's pretty far from the norm. Who are these Zelda fans?
Also, you're a bit contradictory. You rail against these mythical hyper-intolerant of criticism Zelda fans, but you take kind of the opposite extreme. You take a system like the 3DS, and focus on largely insignificant issues for weeks in a row and blow it up into this big thing, when it's really not even important. And the system is now doing just fine, and that should be a lesson to everyone growing impatient about the Vita.
Throwing a huge hissy fit over small issues is not good, or just, or even productive. It sours the waters of gamer culture just as much as anything else you complain about, if not more.
I agree with criticizing business practices, anti-consumer practices and all that, and I've been pretty consistently supportive of your material on that. But you're blurring it with your subjective opinions, and mixing it all together and turning it into a big "I am awesome" speech. It's a mess.
Ya litte zi***.
You can bitch and nitpick all you want, but unless you stand behind that bitching and nitpicking by not giving companies your fucking money, it won't accomplish a thing.
My happy you really enjoyed Enslaved and thought it was great game.
because I thought Enslaved was shit and deserved to fail.
Also I like the PS3 & PSP XMB, Okay I'll admit sometimes I get a little confused how to do things, but it works well once you get used to it, and I love how I can just download awesome community made themes. I've always been a fan of customization and I love how you can do so much with the XMB I love this Dtoid XMB.

It could be a little more user friendly, but it's not bad, and it's personally my favorite interface for it just gives everything so much more personality. It's really awesome to be able to have a Dtoid userface or one of my favorite animes or games.
Seriously though, I agree with Shinta...on everything !
And I don´t know what you think is wrong with the eShop, it works fine in Europe :p
If you don't support the game in the end it hurts the developer. However if you support the game its just reinforcing the publishers bad behavior.
In the end I decided that if it means sinking a few developers ..... so be it. I'm sorry, you may have made a great product but I won't put up with your publishers bullshit.
And nostalgia goggles? Hahaha, anything to support your own viewpoints I guess.
How do you walk around with all that hypocrisy on your shoulders?
I once mentioned that I wasn't fond of the sword combat and that it occasionally would not respond the way I would like it too, or I would have to move overly slow from one side of my body to the other so it would not register as a swing...
...but that was when I was assaulted with "omg you must not have played it long" or "omg you suck" (funny they always start with omg).
SOOOOO many times, and I sank 60 hours into that game, totally destroyed it. Wasn't a fan of the story so much but the game was fun.
I agree completely with the sentiment of your message in that it should be okay to talk about the medium and discuss problems without immediate ridicule. I disagree with your bravado and means of communication. I know Burch doesn't work here anymore, but I still miss his ability to communicate about the medium.
News flash idiots. If it wasn't for the business aspect of video games you wouldn't have any video games.
Newsflash #2: Video game companies want to make money. They also employ alot of people that like to develop video games.
It is perfectly valid to hate DRM and other techniques by video games and you can choose to not the buy the game due the companies offending practices. You can also bitch about it on the web as much as you want.
Just please shut the f**^ up with your utopian bullshit world where video games grow off of trees and recognize that cigar chomping greedy money makers have ten times the balls that you have to take risk to make profit and payroll. Or not. Its a free internet after all.
Second, I agree with everything you said. I've long grown out of fanboyism, and can now criticize anything fairly, even if I happen to love whatever I want to tear apart. We live in a wonderful age of technology, especially when it comes to video games, and it's sad to see some of the boneheaded decisions companies make just to make an extra buck.
