Jimquisition is a thing that happens!

Companies (mostly EA) have started to learn they can get away with pulling their familiar stunts by giving them a new coat of paint. We make jokes a lot about how unsavory elements of games are "features," but it seems publishers (mostly EA) have worked out that's actually a good idea. Welcome to an industry where the things you hate aren't the things you hate ... because they're called something else.
