The funniest part is that she's weeks late for her first video and she is actually asking the backers to submit lists of games which fall into sexist tropes. She's not even doing her own research. The woman is truly brilliant.
They conveniently ignore people with legitimate points because, like in politics, it is much much easier to defend against the stupid masses who can't think 2 minutes in front of their faces.
Sounds like a bunch of you chumps got scammed real good.
+10,000 lulz harvested
Why would you go and make yourself look like exactly the kind of stooge this video is calling out? Not just kinda, you literally hit ever last point made dead on the mark, right down to the knee-jerk insanoreaction that implies heavily you didn't even bother to watch the video in the first place.
It is people like you that exist only to ensure real conversation never takes place. How about kindly stepping aside if you can't grasp what's happening, rather than letting it anger you to the point that you create a false reality that you can grasp, and using it to make us all look bad.
People need to get over her, donate money if you want, watch if you want or don't, but stop getting psychotic about someone you never met who is doing something you can't cos you're stuck up your own ass, pretending to understand women when you're neither one nor accustom to their issues (not to negate the issues of men, but seen as this is a feminism related subject the last sentence exists for looney obssessive individuals out there.)
That said, the correct response is to not watch her videos. The threats and hate are disgusting and unwarranted.
Do you make it your lifes objective to tell everybody how wrong they are?
Dashiz raised some valid points (especially the last one) and you failed to engage any of them. Should we stop questioning things just because some assholes took it too far? Is Anita exempt from analysis because trolls will be trolls?
No one here is impressed because you think you are always right you objectionable little tool.
You're a strange man for investing yourself so heavily in everything I do, but I'll indulge you anyway.
I made it my business to shit on everyone who decides to take this subject in an obviously ridiculous direction because, the first few times it rolled around, I was mostly silent. After seeing how awful things got, I decided i'd like calling the bullshit out and be hated for it than more to ignore it.
Did you watch the video either? He's doing exactly what this video explicitly calls out for being complete bullshit. If you believe those are valid points here, maybe you should be arguing with Jim and not myself.
You know, for all the name calling you do, you never seem to make a point at all. You just seem to condescend for the sake of it, never really offering anything up.

@Chongomaster at this point it will go in two different ways. After she actually starts making vids, she'll either become even more widespread and hated across the internet, or more hopefully, she'll fall back into obscurity after people stop caring about her.
I feel like I'm going to get myself into a can of worms for replying or even commenting at all on this issue, but while he could've been less condescending or gave a little more respect to the issue at hand, DaShiz did raise a point of view about her personality and her own morals. The latter of which has proven to be true in terms of moderating her own traffic and "fanbase". But it seems like you just latched onto his misunderstanding of feminism and turned him into a strawman for the issue of "those people".
There's things to be mad about with what DaShiz said, but he still has a point.
And really be careful about statements like this:
"I made it my business to shit on everyone who decides to take this subject in an obviously ridiculous direction... I decided i'd like calling the bullshit out and be hated for it than more to ignore it."
It really makes a mountain out of a molehill and reflects onto your character when people read your responses.
I'm not calling you out on it to be a dick or anything, I don't mean any ill will at all. I'm just concerned about the amount of flak you'll receive for voicing that "righteously justified" attitude, whether (as you stated) you'll be making some enemies from it. It's the internet, it's not worth it to get mad about things.
Or even as Jim has stated, you're now inciting drama by picking pointless fights with people who "don't get it" instead of ignoring it.
And hell, I'll even agree that I'm a hypocrite that's adding fuel to the fire by replying to you.
The way that Anita goes about presenting her points and the horrific scandal surrounding what she's doing is completely wrong and I feel is creating such a huge wedge between male gamers and their female counterparts.
I myself am a female gamer, and I see that Anita is being arrogant and condescending in her criticism of things in popular media. These sorts of attitudes that there is a 'patriarchy' and that 'white straight males' are our monstrous overlords that keep us oppressed is a bunch of crap.
In all honesty, I think there ARE a lot of issues that need to be addressed regarding women's representation in the media, but it is NOT a war against men, at all. The guys I know aren't secretly plotting to put me back in my place - I don't even get kitchen jokes from the community I play in anymore. Why? Because I play, not to get attention, but because I share the love and enjoyment of games just like the other guys. I’m there to play games and be good at them without playing the whole 'I have tits and therefore deserve to be carried' routine.
What baffles me is that I don’t think asking for a diverse representation of women, in any form of media, is going to make that media less enjoyable. I think a lot of men would appreciate seeing women that are intelligent and open minded, as opposed to the emotionally needy/manipulative stereotypes currently present. It is possible to have an attractive female character that is also complex. It feels that, a lot of the people that react violently to any sort of statement/criticism asking for a change in perspective regarding how women can be represented, think that this either means that all attractive women will be replaced with fat, angry feminists, or that it will turn their games into a pink princess fairyland (all of which should be destroyed… violently).
The idea behind the argument for stronger women is to give younger ones better role models to grow up to. I grew up watching Xena: Warrior Princess and until my teenage years I didn’t even think there was a difference between the genders. We were all kids, not boy kids, or girls kids, just kids pretending to be adventurers, fighting with lightsabers, building castles from legos. Role models make a huge difference in how a women turns out – I figured all girls could be adventurers/fight just like the boys so I grew up exploring ideas and wanting to learn.
I am now a ICT Engineering student and I play games just as much as guys do.
Why not fight to have more awesome women in the world?
Great video, thanks again!
The point was never about her morals, her character, or anything related to either. The fact that the whole "conversation" devolved to that point is what kept the rest of us from having a real conversation about the whole "women in gaming" thing. Jim hits the nail on the head when he says that we created this one; that it was our fault she got as big as she became, and that it originated with the insane vitriol that was spewed at her at a near relentless clip.
The only reason her morals/ethics/motives/etc came into question at all seemed to be because people either wanted to justify their unjustifiable outrage on something, or they wanted to skirt the actual substance altogether. Even now, in the comments section of a video that calls out this very thing for being complete bullshit, we are still somehow talking about it as though it were completely valid. Does this not strike you as odd?
As far as how I see it, he asked so I answered. I have no desire to white knight anything, I just don't see a point in keeping my mouth shut. Especially on this issue, where the vitriol drowned out any possibility of actual conversation in minutes. Mountain out of a molehill? Maybe in the grand scheme of things, but considering past articles went hundreds of comments long and left even some DToid staff shaking their heads (I remember one Daily Hotness saying something to the effect of "[Staff Member] wrote an article about [Women In Gaming Related Thing], but don't read the comments if you want to retain your sanity").
And I'd disagree that just ignoring people with unreasonable views that do nothing but derail and distract is somehow the way to go. If the people who derailed every possible discussion with hundreds and hundreds of off topic comments were called out immediately, maybe those articles wouldn't have gone for hundreds and hundreds of off topic comments.
Regardless, I think we can safely say that ignoring them did nothing, they just argued with each other about awful shit and ganged up on anyone who dared to call them all way off.
No one should have to avoid a subject because the people on their preferred site demand they do so. People wanted to talk about it, they were just drowned out until they couldn't be bothered to try to speak over the crowd.
No one wants videogames to be a deep political message. There are just some people who want to be included. Giving female characters some actual dignity doesn't make a game worse, it just makes it accessible to more people.
More people means more money for devs that they can then use to make better games.
Games being more aware and inclusive is good for everyone.
"stop being a party pooper and enjoy the fucking video games."
That's the point! We want to enjoy them. We want more people to be able to enjoy them. We want more people at the party! More women! We want gaming to grow and be more fun for more people. Is that really the worst thing in the world?
