I noticed a weird display bug where it said to crouch I had to press RT + A, which is actually LT instead but yeah, game looks pretty cool

Well Majin that! I thought this game was going to be released this winter and hoped to see it at gamescom, but this is the first I've seen of it in months :(

A genuine smile is a rare thing nowadays. This has been on my radar for a while now but a smile is certainly a lofty endorsement in my book.

this is exactly the sort of game that i would completely overlook. will have to check out the demo at some point.

I'm so glad I've had this preordered for awhile now with release date nonsense. I can't wait for it. I agree with your view on the demo Jim it was remarkably impressive with some awesome level design. I Namco is really making some creative new games recently. I just hope it pays off for them so we can see more like this.

Did you notice all the Team Ico refrences too. Like with the lizards crawling on the walls and the goo creatures leaving darkness all over the theif's body?

Glad to hear it's enjoyable. I'm downloading this and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit to post a Demo Revue tomorrow morning.

Looks sweet! Maybe if we all concentrate real hard, the PSN store will update. Ok, gonna start concentrating riiiiight.. NOW!

The demo was really fun. Controls have a nice, responsive feel and all of the contextual commands for Majin seemed to work very well. I like the look and feel of it, too...I hope the full game lives up to its promise!

Wait - let me get this straight.

Jim played something that wasn't buggy and broken and didn't think it sucked?

I'm amazed!

I downloaded this from the Japanese PSN Store this morning. It's entertaining and controls well. It's rough around the edges graphically, but it is just the demo, so we'll see. Personally, I would be hard pressed to pay full retail for this game. If it was priced like 3D Dot Game Heroes, then It would be an easy buy.

I tried it, but it didn't have the level of charm that I was looking for. Majin is a lumbering oaf in the worst way, to the point where his character is barely worthy of respect. I was hoping for Majin to be majestic, akin to the colossi from SotC. They were slow, but still managed to maintain a strange elegance. From the looks of the demo, Majin will never be more than the dim-witted sidekick.

Exactly my sentiments to be honest after playing the demo a couple of hours ago. Will be picking this up above enslaved and fable 3 (until the christmas holiday at least :D).

Majin > Enslaved, this actually seems to have some substance about it rather than just going "Oooh look how cinematic we are". Also using the wall drop in the gatekeeper room was one of the funniest battle moments I've had in some time, luring that huge group of enemies in before signalling to Majin to drop the wall and seeing them explode in a cloud of experience gems was awesome.

I was looking forward to this, but having now played the demo for myself I'm not quite so fussed. I hope the full game offers more than those ten minutes did. Combat was just "let Majin wreck them and try to stay out of the way" and there were no puzzles to speak of. Plus it was inconsistent with its own lore even within the span of just a few minutes, first saying that only Majin can kill the shadow creatures for good but then letting you sneak up on one and taking it out by yourself in one hit. I want to like this, I like the design and the game on paper, but this little demo area did nothing to sell me on it further.

Also, the main character looks like Little My from The Moomins. I didn't notice it before, but in motion it totally is. Can't unsee.

At times the voice actor for Majin just sounds like he's trying to hard to sound like a lumbering, developmentally disabled monster.

It was fun enough, but I don't give two shits about the Thief or Majin, nothing about them seems unique aside from the visuals, and neither had much personality beyond gung-ho thief and 'i did good job' big monster man.

Gameplay-wise, it almost reminded me of Zelda, graphically too. Part of that might have been the bombs. And the suspiciously similar sound made when certain events happen.

The demo rocked and I've already preorded my copy from Amazon, that said the demo does cause some concern over the length of the game, then again Game Republic's last console game (Folklore) also had a short demo but turned out to be fairly lengthy.
