I've waited a long time to try Bulletstorm out, so I had the demo on download as soon as I noticed the sucker was available. Now, fresh off of making heads explode and kicking angry green people into electric wires, I feel I'm an adequate position to say one thing:
FUUUUUCKIN' AAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY BRO!
Bulletstorm is exactly what I thought it would be -- crass, immature, senselessly violent, and borderline retarded. That is perfectly okay with me, too. While I am still yet to truly get to grips with the inventiveness of the violence, I am most definitely impressed with how every new kill feels like a reward in and of itself. Whether I'm kicking someone into a chasm or dragging them into spikes, the game is a macabre goody bag of pain.
The demo is elegant in its inelegance, which is as adequate a description as it is pretentious. The game just throws waves of enemies at you who are begging to be slaughtered, but the bright visuals, tight combat, and surprising amount of polish makes it work perfectly. I was honestly expecting a game that was rougher round the edges than this, so that's a nice surprise.
Go get the demo now, dick tits!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
The whole point of the game was to use a particle whip to kill enemies in all sorts of various gruesome ways. Very similar, yet in ultra cool BRO-Person Shooter (BPS) form so it's a million times cooler!
Sounds kinda like "Super Gears of War". Not as though it might be a bad thing.
Almost seems "too easy", with the use of the leash....although, I'm sure it will make the game that much more fun, and the difficulty will ramp up as we go through the campaign in the full release.....
I've never been much of a multiplayer guy (outside of Halo marathons back when I was living in Army barracks back in the day)...but I can see how this might revolutionize MP gaming and might give me a reason to play that way again.
And me? I'm just not interested. No h8 tho :) I'll prob rent eventually and have some fun.
Also:
FUUUUUCKIN' AAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
Glad to see Jimmy boy happy though, honestly
So far there isn't any confirmation about competitive MP - just a four player horde mode.
"Kill with skill"? Bullshit, there's no skill in shooting guys who are suspended in mid-air almost indefinitely. The control layout is awful (who thought it'd be smart to use a face button for sprint so you can't actually sprint and control movement at the same time?) and the controls are terribly sloppy and unresponsive.
Given up on Bulletsotrm. And that's coming from someone who loves Gears and used to kill many an hour making Unreal Tournament mods. Love the style, this is just a terrible, terrible game.
...But this is exactly how it works in Gears, which you said you loved. When you're in sprint mode, you control movement with the left stick. Just takes some getting used to.
best line ever.
BOOM!
""Kill with skill"? Bullshit, there's no skill in shooting guys who are suspended in mid-air almost indefinitely."
Download the demo and give it a few plays. I'd be interested to see where your scores stack up if this is what you think they mean by "Kill with skill."
Just as imagined, except for poor execution of the kick. Seriously, aiming the kick in one direction and the guy flies in the opposite direction.
Crysis 2's demo blows; agreed. They copied COD, emblems and all, and it's less fun. Still looking forward to the SP and PC mods though.
It's just missing something and the supposed "super awesome incredible" engine didnt look all that good to me.
That's because it's on the xbox
TROLLOLOLOLLLOLOLOL
You sneaky little fucker. You trolled me:)
Wild 9 was awesome. I loved the hyper-allergic guy who exploded whenever he sneezed.
It takes no skill to just kick guys and shoot them. But to unlock some of the more juicy kills, and to keep maximizing your points with a variety of attacks, really does take some doing.
mainly because it's not the whole gritty I'm going to stuff your balls with brown bullshit which is all I see in games like Call of Duty and Gears of War and I LOVE Mindless fun
"crass, immature, senselessly violent, and borderline retarded."
I personally love that type of style IF it's mindless fun, but if it's all of those but it's supposed to be story based and the gameplay sucks. then it'll go in the trash (aka sell it to a friend)
Its on PS3. O_o look harder.
Go to PS store, go to top right for "search" then search bulletstorm !!!
Anyone that thinks otherwise is wrong.
That's what I loved about SEGA's The Club.
I only played this demo once so maybe I'll like it more if I play it a few more times. But the first impression didn't do anything for me. It felt clunky and slow. Auto aiming headshots all the way through didn't help matters (didn't check the options to see if it could be turned off).
