If Jimi Hendrix's stepsister is to be believed, it sounds like Green Day won't be the only musicians getting its own Rock Band game this year.
Janie Hendrix -- who controls the guitarist's estate -- says a Rock Band game featuring the late musician should be coming before the end of the year. The statement comes as part of an LA Times interview, where Hendrix talks to the paper about a recent Sony Music licensing deal for the guitarist's music.
A digital Hendrix and his music appeared in Activision's Guitar Hero: World Tour in 2008. A Rock Band game featuring Jimi Hendrix would presumably follow the model of The Beatles: Rock Band, which chronicled the career of the Fab Four.
Jimi Hendrix 'Rock Band' Game Coming [Billboard via Blabbermouth -- thanks, TheWeaponeer]
[Update: According to a Harmonix spokesperson, the Billboard story was incorrect in regards to the developer working on a standalone Jimi Hendrix game.
"While we have not made any official announcements regarding Jimi Hendrix and Rock Band," the spokesperson told us today, "we are excited to say that we are in discussion to bring more of his music to our platform. Stay tuned.]
I have the money ready, gimme gimme gimme!
That doesn't necessarily mean that Hendrix will be the *only* artist featured in the game. I'd think that would be a bit too niche. But who knows. Publishers of music games are getting desperate.
2) YES!
3) Fuck the haters.
4) Yes Harmonix has sold out.
5) After Lego Rock Band surely we all saw this coming.
But seriously. They said all the masters were lost. Janie needs to get her shit together.

Stop cashing out on step-brother's heritage
THIS.
I Always thought he was referring to Jimi in GH:WT. Not that it matters.
@Sassafrass
If it was actually Jimi giving consent on this I'm almost sure that would put LedZep and the Floyd over the edge. But since it's Janie Hendrix, a woman known to whore out her brothers name, it'll probably have the opposite effect.
/Fanboy bullshit
Rb,RB2,Lego RB,AC/DC,Beatles RB, now Jimi RB. Not that I mind, but I find it funny that some people think one company has more "merit" than the other. And I prefer RB, but I'm tired of both at the moment. As long as this doesn't have those horrible live versions of his songs like GH did, I might get it.
But fuck, it's Hendrix. He deserves his own game. Fuck Green Day.
Well, this will be the only band themed music title I'll probably ever buy, simply cause it's Hendrix.
Day 1 buy. (If it happens)
Right handed Strats for lefty's also confirned.
Cool, then I can go back to spewing bile on the genre.
We got Gimme Shelter. After that they signed up with that new label and we've got nothin'.
Remnants of a Who-style Rolling Stones pack were salvaged from XBLM but I think the new label killed the deal. Which is bullshit but whatcha gonna do?
As unworthy for a dedicated game as Greenday, Metallica, Aerosmith, and Van Halen.
If Hendrix gets a game, then SRV (a more talented player) should get one first.
Still, nothing short of a full-on Led Zeppelin game will get me to buy all of the instruments themselves. For now, I'm just excited I'll get to play Hendrix at my buddy's house.
There's never been a day without music games and there'll never be a day without music games. Suck it up buddy.
@JamnOnTheOne
While (arguably) a more technical player SRV didn't have nearly the composition that Hendrix & The Experience had. Not even close. He didn't have the consistency of Hendrix, he didn't have the variety of Hendrix, buddy take some musicology classes.
I would of bought that shit on day one if it had been real.
