While the promised downloadable content flood for Neversoft's Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was only nice in theory, it looks like they're off to a good start for the just-released Guitar Hero World Tour.
Today, Activision has confirmed that Jimi Hendrix and The Raconteurs track packs will be made available come November. The Jimi Hendrix pack will feature "If 6 Was 9," "Little Wing," and a live version of "Fire" on November 13; The Raconteurs make their videogame debut with "Salute Your Solution," "Hold Up," and "Consoler of the Lonely" on November 20.
The track packs will cost 440 MS Points on the Xbox 360, and $5.49 on the PlayStation 3. Individual songs can be purchased for 160 MS Points on the Xbox 360, and $1.99 on the PlayStation 3. The songs can also be downloaded as individual tracks for the Wii for 200 Wii Points apiece.

Making their debut appearance in a videogame, charismatic rockers, The Raconteurs are set to leave their mark with three tracks off their second album Consolers of the Lonely. The trio of "Salute Your Solution," "Hold Up" and "Consoler of the Lonely" will debut as part of a three song set list on November 20th, 2008 that will allow virtual rockers the chance to experience the killer sounds of The Raconteurs like never before.
The Raconteurs Track Pack and Jimi Hendrix Track Pack will be available on Xbox LIVE(R) Marketplace for Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for 440 Microsoft Points and on the PLAYSTATION(R)Store for the PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system for $5.49. I picked up GHWT because the RB instruments are compatible, so no need to buy extra plastic. They'll probably get a lot of extra sales that way. GHWT does have some great tracks and they're fun to play on guitar (bread and butter, of course), but man does the drum interface suck. It's ugly and hard to read, and I can't live without the freestyle fill sections from RB. Having on-demand star power is nice (you can hit two specific pads at once to activate), but it also turns into forced activation when the song you happen to be playing also has those notes. It also kinda sux because the activation doesn't come naturally within the song (not that it does when you have a fill section and flail like a madman, but at least you have a choice to try to make it sound natural).
I love The Raconteurs, I love Hendrix (especially If 6 Was 9), but I hate GH. Ah well, I'll just listen to The Raconteurs and Hendrix on iTunes. Yay for iTunes!

To me Jimi Hendrix = Jack White. Their both gods. Never heard anything by The Raconteurs but I love The White Stripes.
It's too bad that much of GHWT looks and plays so crappily. Some of this DLC looks awesome in theory.

The consolers of the lonely album by the Raconteurs is wonderful. Please do listen if you like the White Stripes at all. Or if you don't, just listen.
