Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Atari has announced today that it will publish videogame versions of the popular block tower building game, Jenga, for the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS. Each game will take advantage of the innovative controls of each system, and "will offer unpredictable, quick-paced, tactical play that combines suspense and risk-taking, where mounting anticipation comes to a crashing climax." I smell an M rating ...

The titles will feature realistic block physics, single and multiplayer modes, and other enhancements including power-ups. The screenshots (taken from the Wii version of the title) show off a number of different environments, as well as various avatars, including a shark. Personally, I can't think of an animal that could possibly be worse at Jenga than a shark -- how would it be able to grab a block with those unwieldy fins?

Jenga will be released this November, and I can't wait, beacuse picking up blocks after you knock them down is old news.

Which part are you confused about? The mounting anticipation or the crashing climax?

Jenga... Jenga... Jenga! JENGA! JENGAAAAAAAAAA!!

Err... uh, Yeah. Anyways...

Jenga is an amazingly fun game at parties... but, let's be serious here, this is one of those things that did NPT need a video game makeover.

Ok, this is pretty ridiculous.
"Hey everyone, I got an idea. Instead of spending $5 for a real Jenga set, lets spend $40 on a virtual one. It will be so fun"

If they want to make the experience as authentic as possible there should be four cans of Stella positioned in the worst possible places on the table. Accidentally hitting one of those over or having it be knocked onto 'MY NEW FUCKING CARPET' by the falling Jenga tower will result in a fast paced minigame to rush to kitchen to get 'AS MUCH FUCKING KITCHEN TOWEL AS YOU POSIBLY CAN'.

HAH! That picture is amazing.

And seriously, I would so play this game on the Wii. Lazy? Yeah. But it looks fun, for sure.

Please please please please PLEASE have online play! This would rock the proverbial socks if it a) had on line play and b) was available through Wiiware for $15.

The funny thing with this game is that for it to be even remotely similar to the real deal, it can only be done on moderately powerful systems, because of the physics. But I won't be buying this, mainly because I don't want a Wii (at least not until all those secret unannounced games Nintendo has are shown/released).

This game better not be over $10 dollar otherwise that's just bullshit. I could probably go out and buy a real Jenga set for about $10 or less, and if people have to pay anything more than that for a Wii version that's just nonsense. Watch it come out for $49.99.

I often think that web writers and organizatios have an undue pretentiousness over any mild popular success. You sir, hower, deserve something better than a Nobel prize for that line.

Am I the only one who thinks that looks and sounds kind of, um, terrible?

Wiimote accelerometers are kind of jittery (Like most), and if Jenga isn't frustrating enough, this would be the game which destroys my TV.

Also it's a Wii screen with barely-above-DS graphics.
