Excuuuuse me, but videogame cartoons are rarely good. That said, there's something about watching them that is extremely satisfying. Sometimes it's seeing how they've worked elements of the game into the cartoon. Other times it's fun to see how they end up totally off base, like they never played the game before. Newly launched website Jaroo.com has plenty of cartoons like this, as it's a cartoon website. Think of it as Hulu for crappy old animation.
There are plenty of game-based cartoons to be found.
- Captain N
- Pole Position (seriously)
- Sonic Underground
- Super Mario Bros
- The Legend of Zelda
As anything that shoots free video to your eye sockets, there's mandatory ads to watch. Nothing serious, though. I watched a bit of The Legend of Zelda and had a few laughs. Be sure to check out episode two, where Link has a full-on battle with a flying water bucket (9:26).
While it's not related to gaming, you have to hear the opening theme song to The Hurricanes, a crap soccer cartoon. It has to be the most amazingly bad theme song I've ever heard.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It's cool to see that I can watch some of my favorite cartoons from my youth but if you can download the shows in anyway I can see like a million youtube poops being made overnight.
The selection there is laughably bad.
When your best options are Super Mario, Zelda, Captain N, and the highlight is Inspector Gadget, you really have to think about what your site is aiming for... I have literally never heard of over half of these cartoons.
Ever.
Its like some sort of rift of bad animation leapt into our universe.

Let's count how many more times this is going to repeated. It'll be a fun game!
Or you can just watch that and count as well.
I'm very disappointed at the lack of Captain Planet...
This "laughably bad" animation was what a lot of us grew up with in the late 80s and early 90s. The quality of the streams are quite good and, barring the obligatory ads, the site is superior for watching these classic cartoons over YouTube.
The site was created by Cookie Jar Entertainment, which is the successor to the more well known animation companies Cinar and DiC. So all they have, as far as I know, is their own company library. If you look at the full list of programs the studio produced, there will be a ton of classic animated shows from the 80s and 90s that they might eventually put up, such as: Teddy Ruxpin, Captain Planet, the "good" Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, and the eternal classic: Hammerman.
I know who DIC is. They launched with bad shows. It's not worth visiting until they get some of the better known shows up there.
Also, check out your list. Any show listed there that says "co-produced with..." means that someone else has to get paid before that show launches. Which means it's probably not going to come without a lot of effort. I do see on their full list a lot of shows that would be worthy of watching, but if you're pinning your hopes on what it MIGHT be able to have on there one day, that's stretching it quite a bit.
As much as I'd like to see MASK, Heathcliff, ALF, Care Bears, or any of the myriad of shows they have, the original stuff is really not as good as the co-produced stuff which isn't coming without some serious cash incentives for the co-producers to sign on.
I was all ready to have a nice evening of actually watching some full eps of Captain N and The Legend of Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse Me Princess when I discover Jaroo's player doesnt work on PS3's browser :(
I just watched a whole episode, been years.
But, still.. I'll watch a few toons on here. I just got a little too excited.
I remember watching that cartoon. So sad.
You just just gave the monkey the key to the banana plantation!
Somebody get on that.
It is king of the internet.
Beetlejuice a DiC production, rught? I'd do a marathon of that if it ever shows up.
PROTIP: Firefox + Adblock Plus. It even gets rid of those pesky in-stream ads.
Awwwwww man I really wanna see that show again...
Goddamnit PS3
