The old Metroid fanboy in me has a large and intense erection right now and this is just "his" reaction to a rumor.

I wan tthis to be true but if it is from the Space Pirates...how different would it be? Do you think you'd have to fight Samus or maybe make a Space Pirate Hero who goes against the other Pirates and helps Samus?

Or that ship at the end...I am about to blow a gasket.

I hope it isn't just a standard metroid game but playing as a space pirate it would be nice to see somthing fresh.

@Blindsidedork Well I don't want it to feel just like a metroid game reskinned with federation bad guys and progress through the game in the same fashion as you would in a metroid game.

I guess since they wouldn't have the morph ball function and stuff they would have to think up other various power ups though.

Awesome, I love the Space Pirates. I always laugh when I think about the Science Team, ever since I started to read Awkward Zombie (webcomic). The thought of a Space Pirate in a lab coat just makes me smile.
Hope it's a full game, let's wait and see!

The fleshing out of the Space Pirates in the original Metroid Prime was one of the reasons that game was so goddamned awesome. They were such amazing antagonists in that game.

I'd be happy if this turns out to be either a console Prime gaiden or a DS side-scroller on an optimized Zero Mission engine.

Could be something more along the lines of a squad based shooter(like that Star Wars Clone thing...) having a demoman, medic, rocketpack dude, etc. And it's your job to clean out the planet to make way for construction of pirate facilities. Maybe capture indiginous animals for pirate experimentation...oh who am I kidding? Now that I typed it out it just sounds like Rainbow Six with a mix of Pokemon :(

Cool. A new Metroid game is long overdue. Guess the DS makes sense, as the last one was on Wii. Damn, I still have to get the first DS one.

I would love it if this was that homebrew Metroid game that graces the internets (wishful thinking).
