Quantcast

The commercial you see above comes courtesy of the nipponophiles over at Siliconera. While I'm quite suspicious that the narrator is insulting my work ethic, the commercial depicts a Nintendo DS game by the decidedly non-English title of Itadaki Street DS that seems to combine Mario Party, Monopoly, and the Dragon Quest series.

So, let's see ... America (land of the free, home of the brave) gets yearly reissues of the Madden series, Zelda titles that haven't innovated in two console generations and an entire system dedicated to the joy of the minigame, and Japan (home of Mothra) gets to play a game where a Slime can (metaphorically) punch Mario in the pisello?

This is almost as bad as all of those times my parents told me I was a mistake.

Nex, if it makes you feel any better, Japan gets reissues of Itadaki Street just about every year too. It's like the Japanese digital-boardgame equivalent of the Madden series. Well, maybe not every year, but there has to be at least 6 or 7 games in this series. The first came out on NES and I think the most recent was on PSP.

well, in regards to zelda, i thought that wind waker was actually really different and innovative (stealing enemies weapons, stealth, the boat mechanic, the fantastic art direction, blah, blah, blah). it was twilight princess that took the step back.
