Japan will get The Last Guy next week for about $20 photo

The combination of zombies and satellite imagery is pure genius, if you ask me. Sony mashed them together to make the PlayStation Network game The Last Guy. This title will go on sale in Japan on August 28th and will cost 2,000 yen.

The zombies at Siliconera point out that this will have many more cities than the teaser version released in Japan last month, including:

  • Stockholm
  • Sydney
  • Berlin
  • Washington DC
  • Minato Mirai (Yokohama)
  • Yokohama Chinatown
  • San Francisco
  • Asakusa
  • Newcastle
Damn, still no US release date. I'm sure we won't be the Last Guys getting this, though.

Check out what has to be the happiest commercial for a zombie game ever here.

I don't think this will sell to well for $20 as that's pretty steep....

I'd stick a "rumour" tag on this one until it actually appears in other worldwide stores. It's high in Yen for sure, but I have a hard time believing it'll actually be $20 USD. There's no official word yet anyways.

English demo's out on the Asian PSN(Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan)...definitely not worth $20.

Even $10 bucks is still too much since the game doesn't really have much depth to it AND there are some issues with the gameplay (not knowing where you need to go to coax the survivors from the buildings bugs me the most)

$5 and I'm sold...

Save your money, and go to the Last Guy site and play nearly the same thing on any website...

I just played the demo. The experience was uh... interesting to say the least. It's just too quirky for its own good. But yeah, it's definitely not worth 20 bucks.

I think the major appeal for this game is if you've been to alot of these places. Hence for the average Tokyoite, it might be a good pick-up since there's what, like 3 places from the metropolitan area.

Personally, I thought the game was a blast. 18 bucks for 8 cities or so, not too horrible a price I think. It's not until they start releasing cities for an extra 300 or 400 yen a pop that it will get out of hand.

But having been to about 5 of those places mentioned, I think it will have definite appeal. Anyone else enjoy seeing the kirin torch in Asakusa? Quality game.
