Japan to be getting Playstation Network points cards photo

Sony is finally going to be releasing Playstation Network cards in Japan, where users can load up a balance on them and use that money for the PSN, just like for the Wii and Xbox 360. Announced back at E3 2006, the cards will be available in 1,000, 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 yen denominations.

Since this is Japan, you'll be able to get the PSN card at one of 26,000 convienence stores and at many Post Office ATMs when they come out on the market in June. As of now, there's no word of marketing the card elsewhere, but my guess would be that it would come out in the US around December or early next year.

This mean that PSN is going to use points now? It doesn't use points now, right?

It doesn't use points, it uses yens (in variants of 1-10k)

Well, their "cash card". Whatever you want to call it. The other two are points cards, and Sony isn't that special that I'm going to call it something else.

yeah well, the card says 50, but 50 yen is nothing, so i figure thats a point card thing.

Well, its the old E3 '06 photo, so the system has gone through quite a few revisions since then.

I believe Wii/MS/PSN point cards were mentioned in Revelation as one of the signs that the end times are upon us.

Its funny because Summa used the fact that the PSN DIDNT use points-cards as an advantage of the Wii.

Oh, silly Sony.

Erm, an advantage as compared to the Wii.

Its like a pre-paid credit card, I've read about a USB attachment that you can swipe that bad boy through your PS3 ATM style (not sure on validity), for youngings that don't have a credit card that they can use in the PS store.

psn doesnt use points... it uses REAL MONEY. unlike wii or 360 the ps3 isnt going to try and trick you with clever transactions. with both the wii and the 360 they are trying to make you thin there stuff is cheaper than it is.
oh its only 400 points...
thats actually 5 dollars...
its subtle and usually something that just enters your unconscious to warp reality a little more...
