This may be all moot since we know the price and date already, but just in case, if you still care about the Japan event, Famitsu is doing a live blog. I'll gather all the info and keep you guys up to date.

Satoru Iwata steps up to platform, presents condition of game industry, explains that the Japanese game market moved to the portable type center from deferred type with appearance of [nintendo] DS.

The Virtual Console prices have been revealed, VC prices: Famicom 500 yen, Super Famicom 800 yen, Nintendo 64 1000 yen, this is about 4.25, 6.80, 8.50, USD respectively. You can pay via credit card or a "Wii points card," similar to MS marketplace points. You can use either a credit card or a pre-paid card to use Wii points. Line-up by the end of the year will be up to 60 titles, including the software of Mega drive and the PC engine. After that, 10 titles are added per month.
Here it is folks: Launch December 2nd, 2006 for 25,000 Yen. (price is including tax, 212.512751 U.S. dollars). This is pure speculation, but if the unit is 212USD in Japan with tax, we may indeed be looking at a $199 price tag for America.
Nintendo will be posting a Japanese press release momentarily and will have full text of Iwata's speech in about an hour. Also, wii.com will go live in Japan in about an hour.

There will be 16 launch titles with prices ranging from 4800 Yen to 6800 yen. Zelda and Wii Sports will both be present at launch. The Wii sports titles will be on the low end, around $40USD.

FYI: Wii Sports is not a pack-in and IT IS ONE DISC WITH ALL THE ABOVE GAMES ON IT. Hope that helps.
Gemaga is reporting 3,800 yen cost for the remote, 1,800 yen for the classic controller, and 1800 yen for the nunchuck attachment. Not bad at all.
