I'm a new convert to the whole Monster Hunter thing, but I can already say that I'm addicted. I've been playing Freedom Unite on the PSP, and it's like digital crack. I think I now get where the Japanese following for this series comes from now. We haven't had the pleasure of trying out the newest game of the series, Monster Hunter Tri, but it seems that half a million people in Japan already have...and it just came out!
Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii sold 520,000 copies in two days in Japan, making it the best seller of any game format overall. And because it's a Wii title, Wii sales jumped up almost 300 percent. In one week, Japanese gamers snapped up almost 100,000 Wii consoles!
I'm glad that Capcom USA is taking care of us. Normally I'd bitch about how Japan has all the fun, but Capcom just announced that Monster Hunter Tri is coming to the US and Europe early next year. Thanks so much, Capcom!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I really wish it was awesome there as it was here, because then I may be playing it more. As of now however, out of two dozen tries, I still can't beat a level 1 mission.
Can't wait to see Tri localized, I got to try the demo out and was enjoying the ability to punch sharks.
SOLD. Sorry Hazma...
The only problem I have with Tri though is that it's gonna lack my 3 favorite weapon types from MHF2/MHFU: Bows, Gunlances, and Dual Swords.
Muramasa
No More Heroes
No More Heros 2
Monster Hunter Tri
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Madworld
Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3
Looks like more than 2 games to me. I usta hate on the Wii too, and then I realized how retarded it was to say that it had no games.
and MH Tri wont come out until next year here in the states... O well I still have my wii somewhere, but until Muramasa comes out, no reason to dust it off yet.
It's not so much difficult as it is intimidating. It's very comprehensive, so there's a whole lot to learn, but it's not "hard" in the same sense that Contra, Ninja Gaiden or a Shmup are hard. MH rewards you for being prepared and ready, while the latter reward you for persistence and skill.
@Crunshii
I could easily list off 30 that are out plus another dozen due out in the next year. Get off your high horse. Maybe you should let your keyboard gather some dust so I don't have to hear your pessimistic deprecatory blather.
Seriously...the guy without an avatar is more sensible than you.
Exactly. Here's list of quality wii exclusive titles either out or in development:
Animal Crossing: City Folk, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Pikmin 3 (Announced), Kirby Wii (Announced), Mushroom Men, The House of the Dead: Overkill, Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, Dragon Quest X, Dead Space: Extraction, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Trauma Centre: Second Opinion, Trauma Centre: New Blood, Trauma Team, Red Steel, Red Steel 2, Resident Evil: The Darkside cronicles, Resident Evil: The umbrella cronicles, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, No More Heroes, No More Heros 2, Sin and Punishment 2, De blob, Wario land: Shake it!, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Madworld, Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros treasure, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Boom Blox, A boy and his blob, Little King's Story, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid: Other M, Deadly Creatures, Captain Rainbow, Blast Works: Build, Trade, Destroy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Punch Out!, Super Papaer Mario, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, and of course Monster Hunter Tri.
45 decent games and that's excluding all WiiWare, Virtual console and Remakes. It's really pisses me off when people try to play it as if there's absolutely nothing good on the wii when you get find a lot of games for EXTREMELY good prices online. (I got No More Heroes online for £7 and Metroid Prime 3 for 8)
Why did you have to mention Kirby Wii, I want it so badly and nintendo refuses to release it. WHY!!!!!!!!!! Now I'm sad, I'm gonna search Destructoid for porn.
I thought this was one of the few games (like Brawl) that went ahead and focused on making a good game that didnt rely on the motion controls.
Halo *game* + 360 :: America
You forgot Fragile ;)
Monster hunter is not my thing though and the wii version doesn't be looking to change that at all.
