No wonder THQ is anxious to push out a sequel by next year. They want to capitalize on the critical success of the first and hope for better results commercially with the sequel.
I wasn't comparing it to Mass Effect 2 though. Darksiders is a new IP whereas Mass Effect 2 sold well because of the huge success with Mass Effect (and by all rights). I'm not saying it doesn't deserve 2nd place, I'm just saying that it's not fair to compare them the way you just did.
It's not always about the quantity. It's about quality of titles.
@Company
NMH will do fine when it comes out to 360 and PS3. I sure don't plan to buy the game on Wii.
That sucks, but then again I can't complain. I didn't buy it. In a world of Mass Effect 2s and God of War 3s, I just wont have time for it anytime soon.
From what I've seen, its January numbers were 25k and TvC were 50k.
Not terrible numbers, but you're pretty much right. There doesn't seem to be much life left in it.
Which overall is just depressing. Both of them were the highest rated games for the Wii in some time. And it really hurts to know other than buying all the copies myself, I can't do anything more to help either one. I hardly had enough money for both TvC and NMH2, but I put in the effort because of all the games coming out in January and February that I wanted, these two were the ones that actually needed the sales. It's a shame most people didn't feel the same way.
Releasing them both on the same day as MAG was a worse idea.
Releasing all three on the same day as Mass Effect 2 was the worst idea.
Let's hope all three games get some attention once people are done with ME2.
Well, Bayonetta and No More Heroes 2 beat the living shit out of Darksiders, so that's the way it should be.
Fix'd.
I think hoping for that is a little unrealistic. But you're right that releasing all of those games at once was too much for most people. And most people prioritized Mass Effect 2, so that's what happens, I guess.
The sales pattern on Wii is consistently a slow burn. You cannot judge sales after 5 days on Wii. Remember NMH has sold almost 500k after starting off really slowly. It even took time for the mario games to come into their own sales-wise.
PS3 and 360 games sell differently than Wii games, for a lot of reasons. Looking at a first month chart and calling something a failure is wildly incorrect, in this case.
It's sad, but it's life. I'll be sure to pick up NMH on the 360 and eventually NMH2 on the 360.
@ EDS- Really? You know that NMH1 HD has no US publisher, and NMH2 HD has never even been mentioned.
You either don't really want to buy either game, or you really can't stand the idea of buying these games on the Wii.
I played NMH2 with a classic controller for a bit and it feel limp to me. When I'm in a boss fight, I love to get into the motions with the WiiMote, slashing and charging the blade. It's just fun. That's why I play games, F.U.N. Fun. Graphics are just flashy shiny quarters that cats chase. I like cats. Don't you like cats? Cats.
Can't even explain it. I love Nintendo's games, but cannot bring myself to buy anything else.
And lol at people thinking that the game will do great at hd consoles. If Bayonetta bombed hard, very hard, what chance NMH, a port of a two year old game that was reviewed as a love or hate, has?
