James Cameron may be up his own arse when he talks about how original and brilliant he thinks Avatar is, but looking at the artwork seems to indicate that it's not quite as unique as we have been led to believe. All evidence points to Avatar having already been on the original Xbox. It was just called Azurik.
The similarities are enough for Microsoft to make a plagiarism case. Both of the games seem to be about half-naked blue men with spears who wear the exact same loincloth. Even the names are similar, with James Cameron slightly altering his to something generic in the hopes that nobody will notice his foul thievery. Fortunately, Destructoid Mike was savvy enough to spot it, and quickly informed us.
Okay, so this post is actually incredibly stupid and the similarities are vague at best. But hell, it's 6am and you've got nothing better to talk about. Our review of Avatar is coming soon -- for some reason, Ubisoft doesn't want to send us review copies anymore -- so stay tuned for that.
Fun fact: Azurik was the first Xbox game to feature anti-aliasing when it released 2001. The more you know!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

welcome to destructoid.
I'm just saying those blue bastards should get their blue asses back to blueystan where they belong.
Well I'll be damned. I expected something first party to take that award.
How about you review games, then when you think a game is shit you can enjoy people telling you how you're wrong. Of course, you would all be wrong.
From what I know, Azurik was first party. It was certainly published by Microsoft.
Very vague indeed, would of never seen it if it wasn't pointed out. The loincloth bottoms and spear are the only two things that pop out at me. Considering one looks like a blue(though the cover almost makes him look more on the purple end of things whereas in game he is more blue than violet) cyberpunk and the other some blue humanoid animal thing.

I find it odd that there isn't at least one warrior-class smurf in the clan.
Do your fucking research before you make stupid non-news posts.
"Call Me Joe (1957) is a science fiction story by Poul Anderson. It is the story of an attempt to explore the surface of the planet Jupiter using remotely controlled artificial life-forms. It focuses on the feelings of the disabled man who operates the artificial body."
The covered on some of the books was even a blue dude... but he was a centaur.

Wow, your sense of humor is broken today. Why don't you fuck off and come back later when you grow a new one?

Man, that was the kind of game you give to kids if you're trying to get them to give up gaming.
