Jade Empire was my least favorite of their games. It was good - but not Bioware good, if that makes any sense at all.
Please do post anything else you hear about it, though - I would be interested in playing some more. I feel if they had more time to flesh it out, it could have been fantastic.
All I remember is being driven nuts by the characters constantly shouting the names of their moves.
Even if it supports that "all Asians know martial arts" image.
Played the superior PC-Version some years ago, and even with the tweaks over the console Version, it was not able to grab me like a KOTOR for example. Maybe the god awfull setting just puts me off.
Such a good game, much better than KOTOR. Great story, some cracking characters, some amazing visuals and the best side quests ofthe xbox 1 gen.
Officially announce It Bioware!!!!
Or KOTOR..
Repetitive gameplay with superficial skill trees, visuals that took their cue from garish Chinese restaurant murals. In terms of development it was very easy to see it was rushed, levels became drastically shorter and linear as the game went on.
Certainly not the worst game of the year, but nowhere near Bioware's usual effort. Caught a lot of fan criticism at the time, yet over the last year or so the title keeps popping up like it was a hidden gem.
@Fossegrim: while I respect your opinion, the first (and last, sadly) time I played Jade Empire was a year or two ago, and it was the 'inferior' XBox version. Different strokes for different folks, man.
Hell I'd also like to see an HD repack of it and kotor on the vita or something.
It sold well, and if they made another one it would also sell well. If they were going to develop another JE game then EA would make sure to put enough marketing out there to sell however many copies they need. That with having all of the background lore and setting already done(cuts down on development time) would probably make it a fairly attractive franchise to continue. Though Im still holding out hope for a DA3 that goes back to be more like DA1 than DA2, because Im not going to completely write off Bioware just because of one game.
And as someone who plays shooters and RPGs, I definitely would not classify a game like ME2 as an FPS. More action than RPG yes, but not a shooter.
