Jade Empire is out now on the Xbox Marketplace photo

Jade Empire is now available as an Xbox Original for the low, low price of 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

As with most Xbox games to be made purchasable through Xbox LIVE, it's actually cheaper to buy a hard copy rather than going the digital distribution route.

Back in 2005 when Jade Empire had just been released, my friends tried to force me to play the game, even though I'm not much of an RPG kind of guy. As a result, I ended up playing the game for 5 minutes at most and not buying it because I really am that damn stubborn.

The moral of this story is that I should have gotten Jade Empire, and I probably will one of these days ... just not from Xbox Originals.

Jade Empire is a damn fine game. Much much better then either of the KOTORs in my opinion. Anyone who hasn't played this should download it now.

These original games are, for the most part, entirely overpriced. Lame.

Microsoft really needs to rethink the pricing for these games. I'd buy nearly all of them if the actual discs weren't so much cheaper. Not switching the disc would be nice, but the 20 GB hard drive is too small to store these games anyway.

Its a great game, but probably my least favorite of Bioware's RPGs

Did they even bother to release the special edition of it? Anyways, just pick up a used copy somewhere, this game is really great. I just beat it on PC and love it, despite it being a bit short.

What Heretic said. I was eyeing Fable for DLC, but I ended up just picking up a hardcopy for like 8 bucks.

Dude, that shit is 6.2 gigs. Yes, go to Gamestop. The only thing I didn't like about this game, is that you couldn't customize your guy and couldn't get new armor or clothes or anything. I loves me some character dress-up.

*chuckles*

I got the brand new, factory sealed limited edition for $10 after shipping on Amazon.com about two months back.

Why is everyone using workman's pic? did he died, and you're paying homage?

I got bored of Jade Empire halfway through to be honest, and I've played my fair share of RPGs.

Jade empire was good but i think only kung fu movie goers that were also gamers loved the pants off of this game. I enjoyed it but i was much more into Kotor.

Seriously, I saw like 2 dozen copies of Jade Empire in a Gamestop last week. MS's pricing just doesn't compute.

This game is awesome, and I agree, better than both KOTOR's (not that they were bad games either).

I always meant to check this out, but I think I'll hunt down a used copy instead of filling up my poor hard drive.

I bought a used copy last week. The only thing that sucks is that it's dirty and scratched as fuck, and there's no instruction booklet. I still have to get in to it though.

Kee-hrist.

Why even bother? I'm surprised there isn't a footnote on the end of every Virtual Console article that says:

"(insert name here) is out on the VC, but you can just get it for free via emulation. Don't bother."

(Why yes, I am aware that much of what's offered on the VC isn't available in a GameStop used bin. That isn't my point, and I find VC titles to be just as horrifically overpriced, if not more so. Thank you.)

I think we get it. You don't like the Xbox Originals pricing. Apparently, NO ONE here does. But doesn't it feel just a tad redundant to report on it whenever it happens, telling people that it's a bad idea to purchase it?

Must be just me.

@ExpertPenguin

I'll argue the VC point by saying that I enjoy playing my classic games on my television, and that I no longer have my older systems. Many of the games that they offer on the Virtual Console are more expensive on auction sites and while they may be free for emulation, some of them have graphical and text errors.

+ I enjoy the Virtual Console controller.
