Itagaki recieves gag-order, rolls eyes behind sunglasses photo

Oh, Tecmo. First you piss off the man behind your best games, Tomonobu Itagaki. Then he quits, and talks some sh*t about your company in the process. Of course, your shares plummet after Itagaki leaves. On top of all of that, now your employees are suing you! How is a gag-order going to help you save any face now?

Even after all of this drama, Tecmo has filed a pre-case gag-order with the Tokyo District Court for Itagaki, says Kotaku. Here's what Mr. Ninja Gaiden is prohibited from doing until the case:

• Disclosing or leaking information regarding Tecmo's game software, sales, development or any other company secrets

• Using newspapers, magazines and the internet to criticize company software and company employees

• Obstructing the company's business through slanderous remarks to third parties

• Do not accept interviews regarding Tecmo or talk to the press about the company

No worries, Itagaki. We can cover the trash talking for you!

What is your opinion of Tecmo now? What kind of info could he even leak now?

I think we *might* see the fall of Tecmo.

It's sad, but... if they treat their employees like shit, well, let them burn, the artists & workers will find a way.. like maybe make a new studio or something. With new IP.

Yeah, I've always loved Tecmo's games, but these policies are just ridiculous. I hope he successfully sues them, buys them, and creates "TecmoNinja".

Then he should create a series of 2d based Ninja Gaiden games, using the NES games as a base, and release them for every system known to man.

A guy can hope, right?

I would think that since he's no longer in the employ of Tecmo that they can't do anything to him, least of all a gag order.

My opinion of Itagaki:
He's still a total egomaniac asshole who makes mediocre but overrated games for pre-teens.

My opinion of new Tecmo:
They've probably been cheating their employees and their future doesn't look so good right now.

@Dale North:
Other than tecmo bowl, I honestly can't think of any other non-itagaki tecmo games. They are quite screwed. Let's just hope that they can create some decent new ip's instead of milking one of their remaining solid franchises into "monster rancher:battle network mystery dungeon party 8-turbo" territory.

Ya know, Tecmo could just -replace- Itagaki with Hayashi and be done with it.

Hayashi has proven himself as a developer anyways by releasing the ridiculously amazing Ninja Gaiden Sigma. So, why doesn't Tecmo just pay Itagaki his money so he'll quietly go away and disappear so they can focus on putting Hayashi at the helm and releasing better games.

i hope he creates a new company Omcet.

and Ninja Gaiden is badass.
& has minor camera problems.

i can see most people like baby games complaining about how it is overhyped or too hard.

Microsoft should really pick Itagaki up. Most of his games have been exclusively for their console and having him develop for their platform alone would be a great idea, give him his own studio and let him work.

So they are trying to gag him? Oh dear, that's not going to fly well and obviously make Tecmo look like the bad guy.

Is this the end of Tecmo?

I'm sure all those employees, will rise from the ashes under Itagaki's flag.

@Aurvantoid

Hayashi has proven what? That he can port a game originally designed with Itagaki at the helm, add in a few extra enemies, an (average) new character in Rachel, and call it a day?

Let's see how he does without an established action opus as his guide. Otherwise, I see a situation akin to the Zelda series being handed over to Eiji Aounoma, with every game being designed under the Ocarina of Time framework. I personally don't care to see a myriad of Ninja Gaiden Black template clones passed off as sequels.

Despite it's flaws, Ninja Gaiden 2 WAS a progressive sequel to the original.

I don't see why people think they can talk trash about how Tecmo doesn't need Itagaki. In all honesty, what we're dealing with is akin to Apple suddenly losing Steve Jobs. Or Nintendo losing Miyamoto.
