Load Inc. knows a thing or two about creating racing games that star RC cars. Mad Tracks, the studio's 2007 release, was enjoyable at the time. It's been about that long since I last played the Xbox LIVE Arcade version, so I can't really say if it's aged well or not.
The next game from the developer, titled Things on Wheels, has an eerily similar vibe to it, which is great. If the formula works, why should you feel obligated to change it drastically?
That said, the game does look to be quite the step up visually speaking, and based on what I can gather from this short clip, ToW has more variety going for it with the tracks as well. I vaguely recall seeing a teaser image for this game a good year or so ago, and then there was no follow-up.
Knowing the project is still alive and kicking is reassuring. You can expect Things on Wheels to be available for XBLA later this year, and I believe there's a PC version in the works too.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.
