So long as this only affects ignorant hackers who don't know this, and online cheaters/griefers, I'm more than fine with this.
And a dolphin...
I also want a dolphin.
hey, hackers say they only do it to have full control over their hardware. Well there you go, Sony has washed their hands of you. Good game.
Which is great, 'cause I can actually use one as a networked rendering machine, but I'll lose PSN.
(I doubt Sony would have cared too much either way, but it'll be an annoying side-effect if it is a problem).
People who hack know the risks.
Actually, MS has been doing this as far back as the original Xbox. You would be instantly banned if you connected to XBL with a modchip active. I had a chipped Xbox, and always had to remember to turn my chip off if I wanted to play online.
Sony initially released the PS3 with the option to install another OS. They couldn't be MORE supportive of homebrew back in the day. But of course, the number one use of that feature was to rip off sony through puracy, so out it goes, along with most fun things that legit gamers have to give up because of a selfish minority.
Regardless, good for Sony.
OtherOS was never capable of piracy. Geohot's OtherOS hack just allowed Linux installations to access hardware acceleration and some other features that were locked out by Sony.
Ignorance and misinformation only exacerbate the piracy and hacking debate. Please do more thorough research before throwing out accusations.
Also, GeoHot is a punk ass bitch. U MAD?
Brick 'em for going online with it. They broke EULA and were dumn enough to still go online with it.
But you know there's going to be "innocent" hackers that got "mixed up" in the bans and that Sony "should have been more thorough" before "wildly swinging the banhammer."
I guess they're just not awake yet.
you seem to have selective memory, remember when someone tried to hack the PS3 trough OtherOS ?
Yep...ignorance and misinformation are terrible, you should act by your words, lol
The many emulators that ran illegal roms in otherOS (which is what everyone I knew who installed Linux used it for) would like to have a word with you.
I could care less really, but your statement is kind of false.
Just sayin.
other os was never used to rip off Sony it was used to rip off other people through emulators. Even so it couldn't really be construed as supporting homebrew as the programs were just Linux and didn't run on the ps3 architecture.
This won't stop all the cheating though that was going on before the jailbreaking and will continue after this.
