On Friday night, the opening night of the 2009 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, headliner and rock legend Paul McCartney thrilled the crowd with a marathon set that lasted nearly two and a half hours (boy, what I wouldn’t have given to have been able to have seen the show). Video captured by audience members has already appeared on YouTube, and it appears that during one song, the massive video board behind McCartney and his band showed the first-ever footage of The Beatles: Rock Band, which will hit stores on September 9th.
Obviously, it’s difficult to be absolutely sure from the video -- which isn’t exactly in high definition -- that the video is indeed from The Beatles: Rock Band, and after all, it’s certainly not note highways. It looks like the stuff that goes on in Rock Band games in the background, behind the note highways themselves. But it’s clear that the Fab Four are in the video, and it seems to have the same art direction/style as previous Rock Band games. The footage also makes use of filters and effects (such as a psychedelic kaleidoscope-esque look), which we’re used to seeing in Rock Band.
Why don’t you be the judge? Hit the jump to see two different angles of “Got To Get You Into My Life,” the Motown-tinged track from 1966’s Revolver, and tell us if you think we’re on to something, or if we’re fools on a hill. You can also take a look at the box art for the Limited Edition Premium Bundles in the gallery.
If you’re already sold on this game, you can pre-order it to get into a special club, which will provide a whole host of special goodies, because you’re special. As for us, well, we’re holding out until the rumored vocal harmonies are confirmed.
[Update: According to a review of the set on McCartney’s Web site (via Kotaku), the video was, indeed, the first footage of The Beatles: Rock Band:
...it was a night of firsts and was the unexpected, unannounced world premiere of the images from the coming Beatle Rock Band game which played on vast screens throughout Got To Get You Into My Life.
Well, there you go, then. Thanks also to Dtoiders SeriousJones and Vedicardi2!]

It looks like it, and I like the way it looks. The character models look pretty realistic, without being photorealistic. I also like how they're designed to resemble the era from which the song is from. I guess that's a no-brainer, but I like that attention to detail.
I can't wait. As a big fan of both the Beatles and Rock Band, I could only be more excited if Harmonix made a Led Zep game. Here's hoping for for a healthy dose of Revolver... She Said She Said, please!

sry, Looks good, I am very pleased the art direction doesn't seem to going the way of guitar hero. I must say That the lead singer in GH3 is about the most distracting thing I've had to look at.
Did anyone else get a feeling of Uncanny Valley from that? Especially the part where John is just standing there. I hope it's unfinished and will look better. The movements look really stiff.
Oh I totally agree that the Beatles aren't that great. They were just the first to do a lot and their music hits a wider general audience compared to The Who, Rolling Stones, or Zeppelin.
Your favorite band is never my favorite band, but then again, that's not why it's YOUR favorite band.
I think a person's stance on a band is pretty bullet proof. I could say a hundred things I disagree with about GWAR, but it won't change the fact that YOU like them. So...
Looks convincing, but it's the typical Rock Band-esque art style that we all expected. I'm definitely in need of new instruments, so I'll be picking up the special edition. I for one think that the Beatles aren't as great as everyone says they are, but they did revolutionize Rock N' Roll, so they deserve this (more so than Led Zeppelin, The Who, etc). This looks like it's going to be sweet.

Crazy awesome
Looks really good, but to be honest I'm more excited about playing the Beatles' songs with my friends than the 3d fab four models.

Deal with it.
