Of course it is. But as a sort-of-journalist, I know not to say that until it's been officially confirmed. Instead, I'm meant to tell you that Capcom has launched a mysterious new website, whose URL contains the words "new warrior," and then say "what could it be?"
Well, it could be an ad for a new line of pajamas, but it's not. It's a Super Street Fighter IV teaser site. Probably. If you've been following this, you've most likely seen Hamza's post about the alleged appearence of T. Hawk, or heard the rumblings of what might be featured in a new edition of SFIV from EventHubs.
There's also been talk that whatever is happening would be revealed this Monday, and as you can see, the teaser site that might not be (but totally is) for Super Street Fighter IV brandishes the date and time, 2009.9.29, 17:00 JST, which is pretty much Monday in the US. AKA: 4am Tuesday morning, Eastern time. You can check it out for yourself and draw your own conclusions, but expect to hear some news later this evening. Probably not about pajamas.
[Thanks RAB]
also,
I love you.

Also, "GUTTER TRASH!"
I hope they announce it as DLC and not an entirely new disc. Also, am I the only one that thinks the world would be better off without Dee Jay in this?
No R.Mika...well, I don't have a rhyme for that one, but I won't like it.
Yes, I do hate Dee Jay that much. Ugh. >.<
Replace Dee Jay and T. Hawk with Karin, Rainbow Mika, Alex, Yang, Hugo, or Elena.
Dee Jay and Thunder Hawk are easily some my least favorite fighting game characters ever. I guess they should be in there, but I don't care for them.
Now is it another $60 game? DLC? That's what I want to know.
Yeah, that's what I'm guessing too. I don't entirely fault them for that, because it will sell but..eh. Would be nice to catch a break for once.
Let's hope this announcement is relevant for us too, not just people in the arcades in Japan.
Having optional DLC would split the online userbase, so we're going to charge 60 dollars for a disk that splits it even more because less people buy the 60 dollar version than a 20 dollar one. Though, the reality of it is that anyone who skipped the first one but decide they want to get into SF4 will pick up this version, again, splitting the userbase. Most likely, there will be a huge influx of old users people trading in SF4 to get the upcoming version, cutting those that stick with the older version off.
Concerns about 'splitting the userbase' is the biggest goddamn smokescreen hoax ever. No other genre gets away with it, why should fighting games?
Do want R. Mika. Omnom.
I'm just poor :D
But yea, I'm not going to complain if it's a disc. New characters for a serious Triple A fighting game are not going to be simple pallet swaps. It's going to be a lot of work, just from the balancing side. Not to mention programming, art, animation, etc.
Even all that is just assuming it's JUST characters. I'm sure they would do additional things like cheevos, netcode, new multiplayer lobbies and whatnot.
SFIV was worth the money, a new disc with fixes and even more content will be worth it too, if you ask me.
some of these comments are so.. ugh all i can do is keep rolling my eyes. guys you make my head hurt.
"yup, i want capcom to design 10 new characters from the ground up, new stages, recamp the entire fighting engine, rebalance characters, build an online system that works and give me free alternate outfits. they want me to pay for that? FUCK THOSE GREEDY JERKS"
ahhhhhhh it blows my mind. really it does.
You also have to keep in mind that this is most likely an arcade update, and we probably won't see a new disc for home consoles for quite a while. You'll get more than 6 months out of the first disc.
If you guys want all the new stuff that's rumoured to be in there, but aren't willing to cough up $90 bucks for it (or whatever a new game costs in US dollars) then tough shit. You can't expect Capcom to put in so much new content and give it away for virtually nothing. Assuming this will be the case, Capcom aren't the ones being greedy here- it's you for complaining.
I do think we might be getting ahead of ourselves though. Nothing has been announced yet. It's getting my hopes sky-high just to be inevitably crushed.
6 months dude? if this is infact a new game all together you probably shouldn't be expecting to play it till atleast 6 months from NOW.
RAB, I don't want 10 brand new, completely original characters. I don't even really want 10 characters period, and would be completely satisfied with a handful of SF4 iterations of guys from 3 or Alpha series. I don't care about new stages, I don't want them to make a new fighting engine until they actually make a proper sequel, rebalancing characters should be free, the online system already works great, the only addition I'd care about is a lobby that supported more than 2 people, the alternate outfits are practically a scam to begin with, I don't care for them and don't care to pay for them, and I'm willing to pay, just not $60.
Feh, I think it's time to trade it in and get MvC2, plus some extra credit towards Batman. ^_^
Okay, yea I don't why that slipped my mind. It's not like this is coming out tomorrow, though you never know.
So yea there's most likely still time for more play out of it, but am I the only person who thought they still were gonna be adding content that never came for the original? I loved the game, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love SF as a series and as a side note would love to see the ps2 SF3:3S re-released in HD for ps3(360 sure why not.)
I guess I was just expecting more from the tournament stand point, like contests and whatnot.
But yea, I have like everything SF related this gen... 2 fight sticks, this, MvC2HDR, SSF2T:HDR so I'd buy it of course. Doesn't change that I'd like to see the original disc reach a better potential and bigger audience.
They won't make 3rd Strike "HD Remix", but I think they will give it the MvC2 treatment(which wasn't an HDR) and have the same thing for Alpha 3. They take the ultimate version of each game and do all of the fancy widescreen and online crap to make us happy.
Now if only SNK would do the same...
And to chime in on the "can't afford another disc" debate.. we're gamers, we ALWAYS find the money somewhere.
Dah yea you're right. For some reason I thought I remembered seeing a "HD Remix" somewhere on the title screen but nvm. And yea, I would love Alpha 3... Now only if they'd port Tatsunoko to other systems so I don't have to play a fighter w/o having to buy yet another fight stick, I'll be uber happy. My poor Wii gets no love lol
Oh continuing on my last post, I still wanna see tournaments of the scale that go on worldwide. I thought we would see that since we have the potential now. Hell, throw that in and I'd buy a $80 brand new disc.
@Dan CiTi
I would literally kill for Alpha 3 or KoF 2002 to get the same treatment that MvC2 got.
I'd kill for 3rd Strike, Rage of the Dragons/Matrimelee, The Last Blade 2, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and CvS2 to get the wonderful MvC2 treatment, all on PSN.
@dwolfwood
I sort of agree. TvC deserves to see more sales, but I think Capcom is going to keep on the Wii until a sequel is made.
