Is this a Pikmin 3 teaser? photo

The most recent issue of EDGE Magazine has an interesting full-page ad on one of its pages. Yea, that's part of it above. What's so interesting about a bunch of grass? Well for one it's in a gaming magazine so we can assume it's not for lawn fertilizer. Secondly, on the bottom of the page it says next month with the next EDGE issue number on it and finally it has a purple blob in the top right corner that looks like a Pikmin. Maybe I should have led with that last bit of information?

Could this be a hint that next month's EDGE Magazine will feature info on Pikmin 3? It makes sense since next month also features a little convention called E3, and Nintendo has already promised some big announcments. A full blown Pikmin would work wonderfully on the Wii as New Play Control: Pikmin has already proved. Looks like Pikmin fans should start preparing for some fun.

They're also rumors of a new Pokemon Game to be announced too.

May be the G/S/C remake everyone's fapping over.

Pikmin 3?

Yes please!

One of the best RTS franchises on the home console.

I hope no one stepped on the pikmin. Poor little fella.

Maybe somebody accidently dropped some purple pain on the picture by accident.

Wii Mow. All the fun of taking care of a huge plot of grass, now on Wii with motion controls.

I'm not convinced that this is for Pikmin. That little purple thing could be almost anything. I'll wait and see before I get my hopes up for anything in particular.

@Daxelman
A Gold/Silver remake would be great, but I'm not sure how you got that out of this picture.

Grass and a purple dot? Must be Pikmin! Seriously, I'm not buying it.

I say it's a football game - of either variety.

@Zeno: I doubt it. Edge generally don't review football (soccer) games, and almost certainly wouldn't hype a feature or preview of one. I can only think that it is indeed Pikmin or possibly a new IP that we're not aware of.

This may not even be related to Nintendo at all, and if viewed with greater perspective and, of course, reality, this is likely the case.

I think their next big title will be Cooking Papa, a spin-off of the Cooking Mama series, where Reggie allows players to enjoy seasoning and preparing the sausage and pork-chops that he can't seem to keep his hands, which are consequently sausage and pork-chops, away from. Not even close to Pikman, but equivalent to the shovelware they continually dump into the market.

It could be Pikman, I suppose.

I can't help but think that this isnt' the best ad they could have done. Sure it builds a bit of tension and excitment, but now many people who just buy magazines, DON'T notice the purple spot, or have never played Pikmin before? They wouldn't know what was going on.

An idea like this would have worked MUCH better as a teaser site, in which viewers expect to search for hidden clues. As a magazine ad, I think it falls flat a little.

Well, good luck to all those who like Pikmin out there. Haven't played the games myself, but I hope you all get a great game to enjoy.

Actually - the more I look at it, the more I doubt it is pikmin. If it is a pikmin ad, it's so terrible and fails at so many levels that I doubt a major company would have approved it.

If it was supposed to be a pikmin ad, why would they put the small blot of color so far away from the center? Ideally, you'd WANT people to notice.

It could just be a photo artefact, or as chronic logic said, a bit of purple paint, or it could have been an error made in a computer image altering program, or any other amount of things.

@Korolev: It's not an advert. Edge does a teaser on their next issue in this style every month. It may not be Pikmin but it will be a fairly major game if Edge is using it as their lead story in an E3 month

If these rumors hold water, then this year will be very satisfying for hardcore Nintendo fans. I hope they are, a new Pikmin game would be sweet.
