I've probably played the game more than the designers themselves.
All put together.
Times a zillion.
Plus two.
Sorry Chad, you're not allowed to be Super Metroid's #1 fan, that's my turf. I don't think I've gone a year without playing through it at least once since the first time I played it. Still have yet to get more than 90% of all items though.
At its height, it was the best game of all time.
I will brook no dissent on this, simply accept it as fact and move on.
From Quatloos to pyramids to secret t-shirt signs to full loadouts of obsidian gear, I've combed that game over so many times. #1 fan.
but when thinking back to games that i can truly say that i've finished repeated times and enjoyed it every time, the honors fall Ocarina of time & the first Megaman X.
I remember playing that game as a kid and being completely blown away by the characters and gameplay even though i didn't understand the story that much!
I think i've played like seven times and i'm going on number eight right now!
I think it's one of the only games I've ever completed more than twice, and I've played through it way too many times to count. I don't know exactly what I love about it, but I just do.
Cue the Halo hate...
Uniracers, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Beyond Good & Evil, any old Sierra graphic adventure (King's Quest, Space Quest, etc.).
Sora fighting his way through all those worlds only to have both of the persons he's looking for snatched away.
Can't say enough good things about this game, though it's not for everyone.
That game sucked up so many hours of my life, the map editor was amazing too.
<3 free radical.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is the greatest video game ever made, and no one fell in love with the exploration, the gorgeous visuals, and the amazing characters more than I did. I've logged countless playthroughs and probably over 200 hours on it.
I am the #1 Wind Waker fan. Bring the fire, bitches. I'll defend it 'till I sleep for good.
Every morning.
For two years.
The password I had for Dr. Wily's castle will be etched in my memory for the rest of my life.

I too have a near obsession with Half Life 2. I've read every page and the Overwiki and it's the one game I would willing pay £60 for. The weird thing is, I can't understand my love for it. Sure it's an awesome game but surely my unrequited love makes me a fanboy?
I know every flaw of the game, but I still find it simply amazing. Words can't describe how I love that game, even thou I've only finished it once. I have contained myself of playing the game again within such a short period of time, but I feel like my second playthrough is just about to happen and I'm eager to experience it all over again.
Last year, I did every Metroid except Metroid II and the NES original, substituting Zero Mission in its place. then I did SOTN, Order of Ecclesia and Portrait of Ruin.
Super Metroid is my favorite of its genre, but you can never have too much of a good thing.
I became way too attached to it easily as it was a game by GameFreak that was not Pokemon, and it actually worked great!
Even though I consider myself the biggest fan of the game I know, I still don't understand how we were supposed to know the secret codes to unlock tiny features in first place. I don't know if they were shown on a magazine, TV ad or inside the game itself.
Still the best RPG battle system ever, with a story that I adore and characters that I'd put above most any character except Berserk's Guts.
If I had a kid, he would be named Justin, or she would be Sue. That's how much I love Grandia.
