Considering Kratos was something of an anti-hero, what would be quite cool for another God of War is one where you play someone trying to kill Kratos, who by now is surely the last of the God's. Kind of a Heller-Mercer situation, but with axes and inevitable tits.

The only God of war game I'd play right now is one where kratos is the final boss, and you control a guy who's out for revenge against him for all the crap he put the world through in the previous game. It may sound like the premise for prototype 2, but I think it's more fitting here. Plus, I'ts not like there's any bigger greek gods for Kratos to tackle himself at this point.
God of War 3 was the highest selling hack and slasher of this generation (by a longshot). Of course its God of War 4.

but you're all forgetting that not only did Kratos already get his vengeance and redemption, but he's dead.

As much as I've enjoyed other games like Dante's Inferno, Castlevania LOS, and even Ninja Gaiden 3 (damn that game got a bad shake), Kratos is the king of hack n slash.

If you wait until after the credits, you see that Kratos's body is gone and there is a blood trail suggesting he either got up wand walked off, or was dragged off by some nutty Necromancer or some shit.

Just have some respect for the franchise and let it die in peace. Why do we always have to keep a franchise going until the formula runs dry?
GOW3 was a perfect way to end the story. Now they're going to have to contrive some excuse to have Kratos running around killing mythical creatures for a dozen hours or so, messing up the the flow of the series in the process.
I hope it turns out great. But my money is on this being nothing more than a cash grab.

You should be the guy from the first (and second I think) games who Kratos keep screwing over. You know the guy, he rips the key off his neck and kicks him down the Hydras mouth then screws him again in Hades.

I liked the beginning of the GodofWar franchise, but quickly got to the point where I didn't care what happened to Kratos. Apparently to continue the games they had to make Kratos a whiny self-destructive dick. In the end he was the Incredible Hulk with Asberger's, and not fun to watch anymore.
God of War was about revenge, but if by the second game it's revenge for the gods keeping you from being a violent sociopath, your sympathetic hero is doing it wrong.

In my opinion it should be set in the modern day and deal with Christianity and the Book of Revelation. But I'm probably wrong :(

That's exactly what I'd do if I was making a new GoW. I'd drop Kratos, drop Greece, and have a new protagonist and new mythology. Then again, no one pays me for my creative genius.

It's going to be a world-building game, obviously. Kratos destroyed it all and now he has to put it back together, SimCity style. Thus the redemption thing.
I really like the idea of Kratos not being the main character, but after what we've been through with Kratos, it'd be really hard for me to believe that any other person in that world would be capable of killing him, especially without any blessings from any Gods.
Or maybe God of War IV will feature Kratos sitting atop his throne in agony, lamenting how he could have killed every God and Goddess even more gruesomely.
And the entire game will have a grainy memory filter.

Oh, good lord.. again? Haven't they milked this shit dry yet? The first game was a classic. When it became a "series" it took a flying leap off a cliff, in terms of narrative. See the Extra Credits episode regarding god of war, if you haven't already. They sum it up pretty well.

I would hope not. The character loses all sympathy and reason from beginning to end of God of War 3. It ended there, it should stay there. Here's hoping for a new IP.

If it is a God of War game I would guess that it is for Playstation Vita. Vita probably needs more support than the PS3 right now anyway. I am kind of hoping it is God of War IV for PS3 though, but I'll take either of them!

I can agree with that line. Sony has the greatest multiplayer game since Halo on their hands, and they aren't making any noise about it at all. It's madness!

I think it's pretty obvious how this should end after the pretty crappy GoW3.
15 years after GoW3. The gods are in civil war with each other over the reign of Greece. Kratos builds an army, kills of several other pantheons and is the only godlike being left, thus becoming THE God.

I had no idea so many people disliked GOW3. I don't recall hearing many bad things about it when it came out. Is this one of those bad in retrospect but we liked it at the time things, or what? For the record, I thought it was pretty good. Not my favorite game ever but it was damn fun.
Update: On Gamespot's main page it has an ad for this tease and on the top of the page it says "NOTHING WILL BRING THEM BACK", so that could either mean his wife and child or it could mean it's not God of War IV.
Fuck. I still haven't played God of War III. I just managed to beat GOW2 in the HD Collection last Summer. With my PS3 back home I barely have any time to play it. Definitely gonna do that this Summer.
Also, say what you want about GOW, but this *is* a good series. The games are fun. Kratos is badass. His story is interesting. The use of Greek mythology is cool. Haters gon' hate. Now go back to playing Devil May Cry and STFU.
