Is news of Sony's 'Big Bang' really just big BS? photo

It was fun to guess what Sony is supposed to announce during the rumored October 12th "Big Bang" that we all have been talking about, and while we all have our own theories, Sony isn't the type to confirm any guesses. What they have confirmed is that the "Big Bang" won't be any kind of planned event or conference... or so they say.

According to 1UP, if Sony does have something up their sleeves, it won't come to us by way of conference or event.

"I am not aware of any big event planned for 12th October, press conference or otherwise," said SCEE Director of Corporate Communications Nick Sharples.

This pre-holiday period is the perfect time for Sony to drop a big bomb, but without any kind of fanfare (that they know of), will this rumored "Big Bang" just be a little press release in our inboxes? Or, is it nothing at all?

[thanks, JV]

It's the 40gig cheapo Playstation announcment that everyone and their mother already knows about. They just haven't made a statement.

If it's a littlebigplanet demo i'll flip out.

If it's a price drop i'll reiterate that Kaz is a douchebag.

Considering every time in recent memory any company has had a "huge announcement" it's turned out to be lame and disappointing, I'm not exactly setting up a countdown clock for whatever happens on the 12th.

Remember, kids: This is the same company that called rumble “last-gen technology”, then put it in the PS3 once they settled their lawsuit with Immersion.

Disclaimer: I own a PS3, so I can make fun of Sony. Kinda like fat kids can make fun of other fat kids, and black guys can call each other...well, you know.

So basically, it's good to know someone else appreciates Maddox. Pick up his book! The Alphabet of Manliness.
However, i know exactly what sony is gonna do. Use their weapons of mass destruction purchased from Saddam to blow up everyone who owns a Wii or 360. Just a guess though.

Sony just doesn't feel like telling us, even if they have something that will interest people. I'm not surprised.

I'm so tired of Sony's inability to give any of us any sort of concrete information (hope) for the system. "Big Bang" is probably some useless new multimedia or PSP integration feature. The only thing that they can announce that I'd consider a "Big Bang" would be if they just dropped 10 games we've never heard of before. Some content... please. Even the Blu-Ray releases are un-substantial. Thank god, for Ratchet and Clank at the end of the month, I'm guessing it will be the first finished feeling product since Resistance. It's killing me...
