Is more Borderlands DLC possible? photo

So we're a bit behind on bringing this to you, but do you know how long it takes to scour every single Twitter of every person in the gaming business? It's a tiresome task, I tell you. However, we do it so we can bring interesting tweets such as one Randy Pitchford, President, CEO and Co-Founder of Gearbox made on Nov. 11.

On that day he seemingly randomly asked to the Twitter universe, "So... Borderlands DLC4, Clap Trap's New Robot Revolution, was supposed to be our last DLC. Should it be?"

Is Gearbox really thinking about bringing us more Borderlands DLC or is Pitchford just a dirty tease? Either way -- and despite the tweet being a little old -- I'm sure it would help if we all sent him replies with caps lock on that said "YES! YES! YES!" You might want to remind him to make it better than the last DLC, though.

I would like a new game more. The DLC has been fun, but it is time to move on.

I think, they should really just focus on finishing DNF in the meantime, really.

New game would be good, but I'd like just one last DLC. I've only played the Zombie Island of Dr Ned which was good. Apparently, Mad Moxxie and Claptrap's Robot Revolution are meh, but I'm planning on getting General Knox and going for another play through to get up to Level 50. One more good DLC would be a great addition and then I'd be done with Borderlands.

I think 4 pieces of dlc is enough, I'm eager to see the next borderlands game.

They have already hit the max of 1750 GS. If they put out any more DLC it wont have achievements unless MS changes their mind and increases the total allowed.

Personally, I'd like to see a new game. I'm just about done with Borderlands.

Only if it's on the level of General Knoxx. If not, then that should be it for Borderlands.

I'm with RPT. I love Borderlands, but I'd rather hear some news about a second game than more DLC at this point.

Wouldn't we have to send replies screaming "NO! NO! NO!" in order to get him to make more?

Although I love Borderlands, I do want them to stop. Start working on BL2 already! Oh, and this time, please make more active talents! The passive are cute, but they don't alter gameplay as much as talents should.

@brigadierbleu

I believe that more dlc is possible. You are correct that there is a 1750 gamerscore upper limit on retail games.

Dlc can only be charge for if it has gamerpoints so any further dlc will have to be free on the 360.

@Bakewell
Nope, DLC can have no achievements and still be charged for. See: Assassin's Creed 2.

How about the title update that lets you play split screen on xbox live/system link? Didn't gearbox say that they were going to add that right after the game was released?

Screw Microsoft's restrictive policies. More developers and publishers need to challenge a model that tells them how to handle their own game. If they don't want to play, then just put the DLC up on Steam and PSN. I'm sick of hearing that we can only have so much DLC, or that the DLC can only be so big, because Microsoft says so.

As for the article, I just DL'd the new patch and have been playing Claptrap's Revolution today. It's good, but it really is just more of the same. Had it been the first DLC released, it would have gotten a better score. I wouldn't mind more DLC, as long as it brought something different to the table--and doesn't mean Borderlands 2 will be delayed.

Zombie Island, Clap Trap, and Moxxie were awful. 1 for 4 for quality DLC is not a good ratio.

New game.

Hmm, well that's interesting. I haven't started Borderlands yet although I do have it. If they do bring more DLC it will be interesting to see what happens with the GamerScore. Personally I think that Microsoft should make the limit with DLC 2,000 and make that the end of it. 1,750 looks weird.

I know what your talking about with the,1750 GS cap.
It just makes the game not look 100% finished. A 2000 cap seems so much better.

As someone who recently finished a playthrough of the GOTY version, I would admittedly be kind of annoyed considering the whole point of the thing was to get everything in one go. They should be worrying about Duke and a Borderlands sequel.

ha i was saying "new game please" before 'clap trap' came out, glad everyone else has gotten as tired of BL as i have!

it's still fun and all, and it's nice to see a well supported product, but the series has lost momentum and is in danger of coming to a complete stop. with so much to choose from these days i need more variety then endless DLC can provide!

also, get that aliens game finished pronto!!!

I think if they did add more DLC, it wouldn't be an epilogue to the story, it'd be new guns, weapons, or abilities. Like how some games come out with items to use in-game. (ex. Just Cause 2). I would like more legendary weapons. That would keep the GOTY people happy, eliminate the need for additional achievements, and shorten the development time so they can move on to other projects. I don't think they would start on BL2 right away, they still have DNF and Colonial Marines to deal with for the moment.

What Darkcloud said. I really my Alien fix and Rebellion left me wanting.

Also is the Borderlands DLC not good or just not worth $10? I ended up getting a new copy of the GotY edition with all the DLC. But with games like Assassins Creed & Fallout Vegas there's no rime so it's still shrink-wrappped.

Also, in terms of quality of the current DLC, General Knoxx is best, though it's plagued by clipping issues. After that, it's Underdome, which is actually really fun once you get decent gear, especially with Co-op. Zombie Island is alright, it's a good "shoot zombies in an FPS" addition. Claptrap is okay, but nowhere near the quality of the other DLCs.

Gearbox, I love you, and I'll still be playing Borderlands for months to come. But, it's time to move on. Time for new abilities, new guns, new elements, and new characters. The Vault Hunters have bled Pandora dry. It's time for a new game.

@D-Nez: A brief summary for you.

Zombie Island: Funny and unique, and the forests of Jakobs Cove are refreshingly different from the blasted deserts of the main game. Shooting zombies with incendiary rounds is immensely satisfying. Decent DLC.

Underdome: For fanatics only. Lost a lot of its value with the rebalancing patch, as post Playthrough-2 enemies everywhere now match you level for level. Most players will only get any real use out of the weapon storage bank included.

General Knoxx: Damn near a sequel by itself. New enemies. New cars. Challenging stages. An entire new rarity class of guns. Two different places to grab epic loot drops. A must for online play, and the standard by which DLC everywhere should be judged.

Claptrap: The game's plot comes full-circle, but you have to play through an uninspired set of challenges to see it. Killing Claptraps is fun, but pretty much everything about this DLC- especially in light of the stellar General Knoxx- comes across half-assed.

I love the DLC that I've played... kind of. I didn't download the Clap Trap Revolution because after the Zombie one and General Knox I got damned tired of having to re-walk ever god damned inch of the world every time I loaded up the DLC. I don't do this shit in one sitting, I break it up into a couple of plays and it is annoying as hell to have to walk or drive to each zone every time in order to continue on with what you have to do next.

So please Randy, pretty-please, if you do make more DLC have the checkpoints for you to hop inbetween so that travel across the expanses of thes new areas is not tedious. I can gurantee at least 1 sale. Hell, maybe 2 since my cousin buys what I buy.

I'm open to it, I just wish they'd include fast travel. It's a major pain in the ass, especially in the Armory to have to move to where you were from the main hub each time you load the game.

I still need to get Moxxi and Knoxx.

Moxxi for the bank and Knoxx for the weapons, Crawmerax, and levels.

Otherwise, unless the new one has something cool, I feel no need.

I'd probably buy more DLC, especially if in the process Gearbox came up with two new character classes to play like Diablo 2's Lord of Destruction did.
