Konami has already confirmed a number of titles for the Nintendo 3DS, including games in the Metal Gear, Frogger, and Contra franchises. Although not confirmed, Castlevania may be among those titles, as well.
According to new rumors from industry writer Paul Gale, sources are indicating that Konami's "arrests and 3D modelers have already begun work on then next Castlevania game and that it's for 3DS." Additionally, Gale mentions that the game may make use of the handheld's 3D camera.
Earlier this year when I spoke with Igarashi at E3, he admitted to not only having a 3DS development kit, but finding the technology extremely interesting. At that time, he said that he certainly wanted to create games for the 3DS, but his ideas were still in the early stages.
Considering the critical success of the Castlevania titles for Nintendo's handhelds -- including the Game Boy Advance and DS -- a new entry for the series on the 3DS seems like a given. The idea certainly already has piqued my interest, and I'm certain I'm not alone, right?

Can't wait! So far the 3DS has had better 3rd party support than the N64, Gamecube, AND Wii combined.
true,3ds is the next big thing imo
3ds WILL get their own castlevania sooner or later
i personally cant wait to see castlevania on 3ds..
It'll be hell on my wallet even if they keep them at $29.99, because I'm buying like every announced game anyways.
Why? Can't we just be happy we'll have 2 awesome portables? Its not necessary to draw lines between each one.
And if they are, I hope this guy isn't working on it, I hate IGA, SOTN was lightning in a bottle, he's been trying to re-capture it since and has failed, the Metroidvania formula is beyond stale at this point, its time to move on.
The 'big' version is looking absolutely great, so based on that, 3DS version will propably show what can we expect from 3DS games in fiture.
The handheld market seems more than willing to come down on game prices, if anything, I'd complain about how overpriced console games are, because I haven't seen them budge from from the $59.99 price point.

As for Cast;evania on 3DS, please bring it on. We're long overdue for a real Castlevania game. Sick of these experimental spin-offs and Lords of Shadow most certainly was not a Castlevania game.
And for those worried about 3D Modeling - they've been using 3D enemy models in the 2D games for quite some time.
Very true I never thought of it that way, I guess it just feels a little different because Dracula existed before the game and is in various different forms of media. Whereas Ganon, Bowser, etc. exist solely to be the antagonist in their series.
