Is Kim Kardashian Hollywood's next Lara Croft?

11:00 AM on 06.05.2010 // Nick Chester

According to Showbiz Spy, "Hollywood insiders" are revealing that Kim Kardashian is in talks to star as Lara Croft in a reboot of the Tomb Raider film series. We've already heard early info on the film, which is said to be a different take on the character, one aimed at a teen audience. These latest rumors have the film being more "comic-strip," and shot in 3D.

This would usually be the part where I'd tell you who Kim Kardashian is, and maybe list off a few things found on her celebrity resume. Thing is, I'm not entirely sure. Kardashian, daughter of the late attorney Robert Kardashian (best known for his role in the O.J. Simpson trial), doesn't really have any solid credentials. It appears that she spends most of her time getting photographed, both by tabloids and professionally as a model, and was one of the stars of the reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians. She also just hangs out.

As far as actual acting chops go, the only movie I was aware that she starred in was of the "home" variety, with her ex-boyfriend, R&B singer Ray J (who is seen on Wikipedia holding a sketch of himself). But as IMDB points out, Kardashian has had roles on CSI: NY and in a film called Deep in the Valley (aka Hot Babes: International) as "Summa Eve."

Nothing against Kardashian -- she seems like a delightful human being or something -- but she doesn't really fit with the Lara Croft image we've come to know. Sure, she has the over-the-top curves sometimes associate with the character, but that's where it ends. Angelina Jolie, on the other hand, was a great choice for the role -- she had the look and the strong, edgy personality to support the character. Also, she's an actress; movies usually require those.

Who's your top choice for the next Lara Croft?
