We live in the post Modern Warfare 2 era. Having a title like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 make headlines with it's record breaking billion dollar sales, it had me thinking about the industry's reaction, especially Karl Magnus Troedsson, executive producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

The fine folks at Electronic Arts and Dice tossed a neat industry event where they finally revealed a taste of what's to come with Bad Company 2's single player campaign. Among the loud gun shooting, open bar and delicious burgers, Troedsson set's the record straight. We chat about quality, the future of multi-player games, what he thinks about Infinity Ward, and the lack of trust my friends have in me.

If that doesn't guarantee a view, then maybe spotting our very own CTZ's "game face" in the wild will. His shark like gaming reflexes are something to behold.

No, it's not dumbed down enough for that.

Will it be better? Probably.

Will it make as much money? I highly doubt it.

The quality of Bad Company will be on Par with Modern Warfare2, But Battlefield is a harder game. Many casual gamers will not like it. I love sniping in Battlefield.

I don't know, I could see this being the BF to break out and achieve modern warfare status. MW2 is going to be growing old and all those young soldiers are going to need something to fill the gap...

I'm gonna need new pants, as mine have been thoroughly soiled.

I heart wishes this game to sell more than MW2, which was worth little more than a rent to me.

I hope you're joking.

I've always preferred the Battlefield series over the Call of Duty one. It actually feels like you're in a war, due to the size of the maps and the sound of gunfire and explosions in the distance. It's the most epic feeling in the world. Next to blowing up a tank with some C4.

Game looks great, but I do wish they through in something like Spec Ops. That mode pretty much made up for any shortcomings in MW2, and should frankly be copied (with splitscreen) in any game that wants to compete with it.

This looks significantly better than the first BF:BC! BF:1942 was one of my favorite PC games in highschool (along with the first CoD and Tribes 2), but none of the other titles really caught my eye after that.

I'm actually looking forward to this release for my next PC shooter! Open areas, destructible buildings, and vehicles? If they can recreate the scale of Tribes 2, this will be phenomenal!

Def getting it for the multiplayer, the building destruction just adds another interesting element to the gameplay for me. Like MW2 I will skim through the single player once, if that, and never look back. So all the eggs are in the multiplayer basket for me at this point.

I think MW2 is a great game, but I can't help but feel like its missing things when I play its MP. Just about every time I play, I always find myself wishing there was a vehicle of some type or missing the chaos and realism that the total destruction brings. Regardless, I think they are both great, but I will always come back to Battlefield for my multiplayer.

i really hope they sell alot, but the way infinity ward is able to present a game is top noth, the game itself not so much.

battlefield is the closed thing in gaming to a military experience (best netcode of the industry too) and i hope that the series is able to expand without getting dumbed down.

DICE deserves all the money and praise.

I really want to get into this, but the learning curve is much higher than COD, and doesn't lend itself well to a controller, in my opinion. Maybe I'll pick it up for PC.

The shooting seems a lot more solid just from seeing the gameplay in this video.

Not to mention exploding houses?! At the very least it looks like it will be a better game.

Probably won't be as widespread only because most of the MW2 crowd won't take there eyes off MW2 long enough to notice Bad Company.

I didn't buy MW2 and I won't be. I played it at a friend's and it's fine, but it's extremely dumbed-down and the COD franchise is taking "fast paced action" way too far...All you do is run around a tiny map and get shot/shoot others and respawn over and over. I prefer Battlefield, where the maps are large and I can sometimes go an entire game without dying because I am just that awesome.

Depends on how watered down it is.

Battlefield games are quite complex. Bad Company was the most watered down Battlefield game they ever made but it required a lot more skill than Modern Warfare 2.

I think Battlefield won't be the next billion dollar shooter but it will have its hardcore community backing it up.

Modern Warfare 2 is just the flavour of the month the WWE games were huge at one time too. Whats left of the Call of Duty franchise will be dead in the water once its no longer the "cool" thing.

No because it's not a dumbed down, casual shooter. It doesn't need to be the next billion dollar shooter to prove anything.

MW2 is for the more casual crowd who just wants to jump right in and frag a few opponents. There's nothing complex about the mechanics themselves, perks/killstreaks make the game much more kill-friendly, and the hitboxes are all over the place.

Battlefield is going for a different audience. This is much more about teamwork, more in-depth shooting, learning the vehicles, optimizing each class, etc.

It's not going to be as popular because it isn't as easy to play. For me, the game is way better and much more rewarding. March 2nd = Day one buy for me.

If anything, I see Bad Company 2 enjoying the type of word-of-mouth success that CoD 4 did and establishing the franchise among console gamers.
