Is Army of Two: The 40th Day the sequel to EA's buddy shooter? photo

Publisher Electronic Arts has already confirmed that it will be announcing a new game from its Montreal studio this coming week. There's been some speculation as to what the title could be, but there's little doubt it's actually a follow-up to last year's Army of Two. In fact, we're damned sure of it.

For one, EA's "secretly" been planning to announce the supposed sequel for awhile now, from what we hear. But more importantly, the official Army of Two Web site is filled with clues, including this page that has the HTML description "Army to Two. The definitive third person co-op shooter is back." Yeah that's right ... "Army to Two," guys.

Now Joystiq has received some details on the game -- presumably called Army of Two: The 40th Day -- from an anonymous source. The game is set to take place in Shanghai, and brings the original title's buddies-for-life Rios and Salem back for more cooperative fun. The sources also says the game will feature a deeper weapons customization system, multiple endings, and "moral decisions." There also may be a zoo level, perhaps where Rios and Salem hold hands and feed the lions together.

Assuming that Army of Two: The 40th Day is a real thing, is this something you're interested in?

If EA got their act together and fixed some basic things like the controls and stuff, I wouldn't mind buying the sequel. To be fair, the first Army of Two was quite fun, at least in me and my friend's opinion.

Of course I am. I enjoyed the 1st game with a buddy, and I'm glad both trash talking butt-buddies Salem and Rios are back. Wouldn't be an Army of Two without em.

Let's hope that they actually put more effort into gameplay and instead of trying to make a moral point.

The original was one of the best co-op games ever made, it was fantastic, hope this one is just as good.

Great news, the orginal was excellent in terms of COOP. Add to that solid gameplay, and a okay-ish story, and you had a game that probably kicked off the whole co-op craze.

Let's hope this one has a longer play-time than the last one, though COOP lasted weeks in terms of fun, you could finish all of the missions in a day.

The free DLC though was awesome though. :D

I'll play a sequel. The first one was fun enough if you approached like an 80's action movie, or some kinda GI Joe meets the Punisher violence fest.

Only in Co-op of course. Making fun of everything that wasn't the gameplay all along. The game was hard, which is always nice this day and age.

If a sequel brings improved co-op gameplay, and maybe less stupid cheese, I'm in. Keep the homosexual subtext though, its a funny contrast with the over-the-top 'manly' violence.

Moral decisions? Will Rios and Salem get the choice of full bellies or sparing the orphanage?

this game was a blast, even with some control issues and bugs.. that means that the sequel will be pretty freaking fun

Aslong EA changes the fact it took 3-5 button presses to trade guns and one to give a "high five" it was still a fun game nonetheless!

Never played the first one, so I am probably not going to get this one.
