Irem's upcoming PSP RPG makes me hungry photo

I'm always hungry. Ask my co-workers -- I'm always bitching about it. The last thing I need is a cast of role-playing game characters to make me even more hungry, but Irem's upcoming RPG is doing it anyway.

This game has a hell of a title. A mouthful, if you will. Narisokonai Eiyuuden: Taiyou to Tsuki no Monogatari (Narisokonai Epic: Tale of the Sun and Moon) will be released in Japan on July 23, and it's serving up a smorgasboard of food-based character names. Bread, Croque, and Muffin join swordsman Danish for a party that would have Atkins rolling over in his grave. They are joined by Bread, Roll, and even that crispy sandwich Panini. And Pudding for after.

The folks at Siliconera say that Narisokonai has a job system, a relationship-building leveling system, and an in-battle thought display, not unlike the scrolling text-over-video of Japanese site Nico Nico Douga.

We're with Siliconera in guessing that Atlus could pick this up for the U.S, as they're all about crazy RPGs.

LMAO. . . innuendo, or terrifying coincidence?

Also, after Atlus picks it up, I'll pick it up from them. :)

I have never wanted a PSP more. This game better come to US, because there can never be enough games with foods for character names.

Interesting idea. I didn't think Irem made games anymore. The last game of their's that I played was a game on NES called Metal Storm.

A remake or sequel to Metal Storm would be awesome.

The food names remind me of Brave Fencer Musashi.

Had Princess Fillet of Allucaneet, who was captured by the Thirstquencher empire, who have in their ranks a Captain Gingerelle, etc...

why do so many japanese things have characters named after food? I can understand maybe japanese words for food, but english/loanwords...? it's just...awkward. and slightly embarrassing.

Irem..they made Kickle Cubicle for the NES. The food obsession was there as well, with many levels resembling food and all the kingdoms/bosses named after some kind of food item. Brilliant game though, like an action logic puzzle, ate half my childhood!

@Ikey heyman

Food names are easy to write and pronounce while still remaining exotic-sounding.

Irem also developed Steambot Chronicles, where everyone was named after a condiment, and Steambot Chronicles Battle Tournament, where everyone is named after celestial bodies. I expect that Steambot Chronicles 2, should it ever make it out the door, will name everyone after vegetables.

The title still isn't as much of a mouthful as Devil Summoner 3. That title takes the mouthful cake.

I'm gonna laugh when Pudding turns out evil and kills Corne in cold blood. Panini will never be the same again.

Awesome.

This may be the reason that I pick up a PSP Go, if it's worth it that is.
I'll just have my friend import it and I'll try it out. I've been needing a new handheld anyway.
And hopefully this game has Milk. Kinda getting thirsty. ._.

Naming after food? Lame. Naming them after table of elements? Badass.

This is another RPG for the 'want' list.

And Magnalon is right, although I think the character has a bit more Ryu from Breath of Fire in him.

I like the art style. Here's hoping it comes out here, Atlus likes to bring over Irem games(Steambot Chronicles, R-Type Command, Hammerin' Hero), so it's a solid bet.

And hell yes, Kickle Cubicle was an awesome game.

Lol Irem. If you combine them with all the seasoning characters from Bumpy Trot you can make some delicious stuff I bet.

I just wish they'd make Bumpy Trot 2 exist again =<.
