iPhone version of Myst is available right now photo

As Joystiq (via WhatTheyPlay) points out, Cyan World’s Myst is now available on the App Store. The download is an El Gigante 700 MB, which is roughly equivalent to 390 Resident Evil 5 “Versus Mode” Xbox 360 downloads. (We’re just trying to put this in perspective.)

Myst’s size may validate its price. The game is currently listed for six bucks. Despite our early coverage of the title, we’ve yet to download it. But word from Cyan has always indicated that this will be a solid port of the full game we loved (and hated).

Have any of you jumped on this yet? What’s your take? Does touch and flick Myst click with you?

What the...maybe I don't understand current video/image compression standards as well as I thought, but that's the exact size of the original game back when it was released on PC over 15 years ago. They just change the wrapper or something? Shit seems craaazy.

Not interested enough to get it but cool for those Myst fans out there. Also I heard that yes it is 700 mb download but it takes up 1.3g of space installed.

@Corak

The installation ues 1.3 gigs, but you get that extra memory back after it completes the process because of how iPhones/iPod Touches handle their apps.

I don't actually care that much about Myst on my iPhone, I swear...

I think Myst is one of those games best viewed only through retro-goggles. I loved it back then, but I don't want to spoil those memories.

Never played myst but always wanted to. So I've bought it for my touch.
Had a bit of a go. Seems really good. Smooth controls. Great audio. Decent visuals.

Took hella ages to download though!

I have really great memories of playing through Myst with my older sister a few years after it came out. Luckily I've forgotten most of the puzzles since than, so it's cool that I'll be able to replay it now in class or on the bus.

I played Myst and completed it on my PC, The only thing that can make that Great game better is to improve the graphics something the IPhone can't do. Save you cash and buy it for the PC.

You've already played this game already and there is no replay value. Why play it again?

I thought about getting this for a second, but then I remembered I find Myst terribly boring...

I like my adventures with characters and an inventory! As a matter of fact I always thought it was more of a puzzle game like the 7th Guest instead of an adventure game...

I would buy this so hard if I had the space. I don't see how everything could fit easily on the screen, though. If I remember correctly, the piano and the power generator, among other things, could be tricky if the buttons are too small.
