[Update: Since this story was originally posted, Apple has confirmed the March 2 media event in San Francisco. We'll be on top of any game-related coverage, so keep your eyes peeled for details soon.]

All Things Digital is reporting that Apple is set to hold a media event next Wednesday, March 2, in San Francisco. The focus? The reveal of the much-anticipated iPad 2.

Outside of knowing that the thing exists, we don't know much about the successor to Apple's touch tablet, which is also a pretty decent gaming device. Analysts have speculated that it will thinner, feature a better display, and a front-facing camera for video chat. It's also been rumored that it will contain a faster processor, which means Angry Birds might load quicker.

If the rumored reveal pans out, that's right in the middle of Game Developers Conference week, which is also taking place in San Francisco. That's just a coincidence, right?
