ION releasing new 'Drum Rocker Pro' this holiday photo

ION Audio (the folks behind the super deluxe Rock Band 'Drum Rocker' drum kit) has announced that it will be releasing a new version of the peripheral/instrument this holiday.

Called the "Drum Rocker Pro," the kit offers a few enhancements over the original. To start, the set features a "Drum Rocker Pro Pedal" that has a steel base and all metal construction. Getting even more technical, the sucker has a "dual-chain drive, adjustable beater and rubber trigger assembly" to replicate "the physics and rebound that drummers demand out of an authentic kick drum pedal." The pedal even features an adjustable spring for a "customizable feel."

That's the big new improvement -- the kit appears to be basically the same as the original, with four drum pads and three cymbals, all of which will be fully compatible with the upcoming "Pro" mode in Rock Band 3. Already have a "Drum Rocker" kit? ION will be offering the new pedal as a standalone product; it'll even work with standard Rock Band drum kits.

The "Drum Rocker Pro" will be available along with the release of Rock Band 3, and you can get one for the Wii, PlayStation 3, or Xbox 360. No word on price, but we've put word out to ION to see what's up.

I think I will be grabbing an extra cymbal and the pedal.

Meh, I'll stick with my current set and cymbals. Never really liked the IONs.

I have the original ION set for Rock Band but the hinges you tighten down that the pads and cymbals attach to lost their grip from me moving and adjusting them so many times and the parts now slide out of place from the force of the drum sticks when I play. I love the kit dearly but I don't use it anymore because I can't figure out a way to fix it.

Don't comment while high, that's my new motto:Anyways, I'll stick with my Roland TD-7's and my Octopad, I still haven't firmly grasped these fake instrument games, hopefully they will inspire people to pick up their real counterparts.

Base set is still an SD7K electric drumset, all they did was add a real bass drum pedal.

It's useless without a pad to hit the beater against, the pedal won't have the "real" feel. So stick a practice-kick pad in front if it and you'll be good to go.

The SD7K is still a piece of shit though.

I have been really thinking about an ION kit. My RB1 set is about as far gone as you can get and still work. Found a few of the old IONs for like $140 online, might just get one of those and buy the new pedal at a later date.

How good is the ION kit (for anybody here that has one)?

Sweet! I've been waiting until I had enough money for the Drum Rocker, now I guess I'll just wait for this to release.

A buddy of mine that I play RB with on a regular basis has one and loves it. I don't play drums, but it certainly seems like a step up from the default kit, I know I would rather play on it.

That said, I've heard a lot of people have had problems with their ION kits, so there may be some quality control issues.

I love my ION kit. I actually sold my real drum kit to purchase it, and I have never regretted the switch for a second. It is super solid and responsive, and is a pretty good midi kit if you get a decent module for it.

I am definitely going to purchase the upgrade kit.

All I can say is my current ION better work with pro mode in RB3. On that note, I already have a 3rd cymbal and real bass drum pedal. And a midi module.

Bet its 350-400. Older Ion kit only 250 now (300) after buying third cymbal. Depending on price of this one i may just stick with gettin the orginal.
