Introducing the Bayonetta special edition photo

Bayonetta will be the latest in a long line of games that think they're good enough for a special edition, despite being a brand new IP that hasn't had a chance to become prestigious yet. Although already released in Japan, Sega Europe has revealed that Bayonetta will be getting its own limited edition version for the West.

The Bayonetta special edition will contain a soundtrack disc and a hardcover art book, all wrapped up in a spiffy slipcase. So far it's been announced for the UK, Spain, France and Australia, and will release alongside a standard edition on January 8. Sega of America has not announced anything regarding a US special edition, but it's safe to assume that such an announcement is likely.

I deserve to have this right now. Sega, make it happen!

Art books, especially hard cover ones, are an easy way to get me to buy special editions.

Eh, I'm all for a special edition of this game, but just an art book and soundtrack? I was hoping for a figure or something too, kind of like the special edition of Assassin's Creed II.

I'd get the 360 version, but I'm expecting Microsoft to say you need to buy permission to use the disk drive.

(As you can tell, I'm bitter than I have to buy every single little thing for my 360 to get it even close to the functionality of my PS3, Tenner for a Rechargeable battery when the controller costs 35 quid? Fucking hell.)

I think they should simply call them collectors editions instead of limited or special editions. Should they be a long standing franchise, I would say limited or special would be the operative words (read: MGS, Zelda, Halo, etc.), but there's nothing wrong with producing something on a new IP that's intended for people who collect video games, so calling it a collectors edition would be a better word.

Either way, I'll still likely snag it should it not be priced too much higher than the standard edition.

People like me like them, because I can then sell the parts if I don't like them for bookoo bucks! :D The MW2 goggles are nice and all, but seeing eBay auctions getting as high as $200, I'm tempted to part with them.

Still bull shit that it's all good to go with English dialog/text/menus for the Japanese release, but we still have to wait until January. Some friends of mine imported the PS3 version, and after watching them play, I'm so ready to shell out $60 for the game.

Should they release Austraila's shiny special edition here in the states, I'm totally down for that.
