What are the people in the video above playing? A new game ... for the SNES? Yeah, you heard me right. N-Warp Daisakusen is a homebrew project from Matthias "d4s" Nagler, and is one hundred percent free to download here. The game is described by its creator as a "deathmatch minigame" and can accomodate up to 8 players. Wasn't I just talking about how great Beat Em Ups are?

Matthias talks about his goal with creating N-Warp Daisakusen:

My development goal for this game was to create a simplistic fighter that could be played with as many simultaneous players as possible on the SNES and be learned and mastered within seconds by everyone.

This is a man after my own (admittedly retro) heart. The game's music was composed by French musician mAF, and a quick listen at his MySpace page ought to get any chiptune fan's blood pumping. There's some good stuff here.

While Matthias does say that he has tested the game and believes it to be bug-free, he does want to be contacted if any glitches are found, so if you decide to rock out N-Warp Daisakusen with your friends and find yourself mysteriously frozen in a tree, give him a shout so he can add your feedback.

It's a thrill to see such love for the SNES that someone is still motivated to design for it. While you will have to use an emulator to run it (Matthias recommends the Bsnes), in every other way this is a totally accurate, fun SNES experience. Enjoy!

[Thanks, Adam]

I don't get it... it's like every other party game. Kinda dull and boring. My female friends who've never seen a console before might like it...but I'd be bored, hell I WAS bored 20 seconds into this video. If it wasn't for the chick screaming Nien! and me having a filthy mind...probably wouldn't have watched even that much.
