When Destructoid's late and great podcast RetroforceGO! -- something I was lucky enough to have a hand in producing -- ended with Episode 100, it was a very bittersweet moment. On the one hand, I was so proud to be a part of something so wonderful, and loved to see the retro-flavored podcast many held so close to their hearts end on a high note.
On the other hand, man, did it suck to say goodbye. RetroforceGO! had such a loyal fan base, and my fellow cast members Dyson, Topher Cantler, Colette Bennett, and Stella Wong became lifelong friends throughout the podcast's nostalgia-filled two-year run. Recording that show was, seriously, one of the highlights of my life.
So, it gives me great pleasure to announce a mini-RetroforceGO! reunion of sorts! Starting tonight, Colette Bennett, Stella Wong, and myself will be recording a brand-new podcast -- a spin-off, if you will, of the sorely missed RFGO!. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you: Fingerbangcast.
Yup, you read that right: it's called Fingerbangcast.
If you were ever a fan of RetroforceGO!, you probably know the reference. Frequently on RetroforceGO! (maybe too frequently?), we would mention the romantic act of fingerbanging, whether to describe how much we loved an old Super Nintendo game ("Man, I would love to fingerbang Contra III!") or, well, just because it's a hilariously uncomfortable word to say.
This is not only a podcast for fans of RetroforceGO!, but fans of videogames and fingerbanging in general. So, basically, EVERYONE ON THE PLANET!

So, what is this new show going to be about? Well, that's the best part! We are trying to make Fingerbangcast completely community-driven, so whatever you guys want to hear, we will talk about! We are recording Episode #1 tonight, so leave your suggestions in the comments. You want us to talk about Super Mario RPG? No problem. In the mood to hear about Final Fantasy games? Okay!
Of course there will be a little structure and some preselected topics, but the majority of our content will come from your questions and suggestions!
And the topics don't even have to be videogame-related. Do you want Colette to sing a song from The Little Mermaid? She would be happy to! Should Stella and I get married live on the podcast? Why not?! Honestly, let us know anything that is on your mind, videogame-related or not. This show is all about the community!
For now, Fingerbangcast is a special-occasion podcast, meaning we won't be recording once a week. If anything, it is more of an excuse to get the RetroforceGO! gang back together and have a great time talking about stuff that makes us happy. And I don't want to promise anything, but special surprise appearances by Topher and Dyson are in the cards.
